A landing that you walk away from in one piece is a good landing.

I use the stock logo for Challenge Air but my company's name is "Cascade Airlink". The Challenge logo just has a big blue C and A with
a jet flying away from the bottom of the A. I wonder how many other folks just use a stock logo with a different name for the company. I'm too lazy to spend time ceating a unique one. ![]() ![]() Charlie don't surf!

Updated my signature - my logos are the right-top and right-centre "buttons" in my sig. Below is a box with my rank and the a/c my FSP VA operates.
Will post screenies of my FSP VA's custom livery (by me)

Sorry for the muddle
![]() My signature - on the left, there's my Benyhone Tartan repaint of Mike Stone's Saab 340 (the Swede in a Kilt). To the right of that are 3 "buttons" - the top is my FsP company logo, the middle is my FsP pilot logo, and the bottom just shows my rank and my fleet. As far as my website's concerned - it's horribly out of date; sorry! I'm glad you like my repaints, but there's quite a few more of them on AVSIM that I haven't added to my site yet. Find 'em all by clicking this link :- http://library.avsim.net/search.php?Sear...&Go=Search My personal favourite is the S340, but I'm really happy with the paint kit I've put together for Mike's 737-800W. I've got two more repaints for that that I've not had a chance to release yet because I'm really busy at the moment ![]() - China Airlines and Garuda Indonesia.

It just takes practise, man.
I've been a JASC Paint Shop Pro user since version 5 was out, and have been doing graphics stuff since I started using Cloanto Personal Paint on the Amiga back in the early 1990s. Logos are easy, really; once you have the idea for the logo, sketch it on paper, and then see if you can replicate it on-screen (use a scanner if you can't). Paint Shop Pro (and Adobe Photoshop) has many different functions you can use to help you out. The gradient fill function is REALLY easy to use, and gives very nice results. If you want to try graphics work and you only have MS Paint, try downloading the demo of Paint Shop Pro X from Corel's website. It's a 30-day trial, which is enough time to have a good play about with it and the tools that are available. Plus, the full version of the program is a LOT less expensive than Adobe Photoshop is (you can buy PSP X for about $99 I believe). If you get good at using it, try your hand at aircraft repaints. My repaints were all done using Paint Shop Pro, coupled with the freeware tool DXTbmp.

I got Adobe Photoshop not long ago and am at a loss as to how it works. I need to take a darn class just to get started!

Best thing you can do to get you going - set aside a couple of hours, and open up a new, blank white image.
Spend that time going through all of the tools to see what they do. Make a mess, draw a picture; whatever, it's up to you - as long as you can see the effect that each tool has on the image. Don't expect to get quality results straight away; that'll just frustrate you more. Keep working at it. The tools that are there can give some really cool effects that you can use for just about anything - texturing effects, to allow you to simulate paint going over rough surfaces (e.g. rust, woodgrain, concrete, gravel, canvas, etc), gradient effects, 3D effects (cut-outs, shadows, lighting, etc). Seriously, play about - it's fun and informative. Remember that by using the area selection tools, you can apply effects and filters to a specific area; they don't need to affect the whole image. The magic wand tool is Your Best Friend in that respect. If you still feel like taking a course, go for it - most colleges and universities will offer short courses or night classes in graphics design, many of them focusing on Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, or CorelDraw (and such like). |
