so explain as i have asked, what do you want this 'edit war zone' interface to do?

your obviously going to have to find out the long and lat of a place, to enter into the interface - correct?? also you will have to enter the
range you want of the zone? correct? also how much of a percentage of failure and war you want - correct?

Haiti south;fail=5;war=20;lat=18.32;lon=-73.15;range=135;
Nigeria NE;fail=15;war=30;lat=11.25;lon=11.60;range=300;
Nigeria SW;fail=15;war=35;lat=9.25;lon=7.40;range=425;



so the details you enter into this interface, in sure even the most computer illiterate person could work out how to do.

if i ask anyone, and give them the info above, and say


enter a zone for 'mancherster' with a long of '45.45' and a lat of '10.45' range '10' , fail of '0' and a war of '85', i guarentee anybody could
edit the file

You are just twisting my words now. I think it is perfectly credible for people to suggest things thought that MAKE sense to the product. If I pay for
a product I believe that to be my right. FsPax is very good value for money but there are ALWAYS ways in which things can be changed or improved.

typed my my mother who is here, has no clue about computers, using only the info in the post above. This did take around 10 minutes for her, but proves ANYONE can edit
this file

They could well do. However I don't think most people could do it. Should there be a simple GUI box in which they would be enabled to say Lat and Long
etc in a form. then write it to file. Also have the option of delteting a zone.

belive it or not, CFG files, do actually confuse people who are not familiar with them.

Your saying how easy it is from YOUR perspective, not someone who has very little computer knowledge at all.

I am not questioning who can and who can not edit this file. I could go round asking every person who has ever used FSPax before. I am simply stating
what would be easier. I would be a lot happier, as would countless others I am sure if they could edit this file from an interface whilst they are
using the product.

Again i see where your coming from. However, its not again who can and who can't. maybe your mother learns things quickly? Why the hell take 10
minutes when it can take 2 minutes in a interface?

the faxt is thou, how often would you edit this file?

once in your lifetime? twice?

do you really think all of that coding is worth it, when you could just edit a text file, which is very simple as just proved?

Well, if you dont want any improvements made to an already fantastic product, which will improve how people use the product then so be it. But back to
the point and the initial statement that was made at the start of this topic. Why place a war zone in such a silly place in the first place? When most
of the users will want to remove it as soon as they know it is there.

I find your attitude a bit unfriendly. We are making a suggestion, not demanding. don't sound so insulted because we actually care what is in future
versions.

Any back on topic as josh said, why was it placed there in the first place?

It may be a suggestion, but as i have shown, its simple enough for even thou most uncomputer friendly person to edit.
