Flying over the white house.

It would be nice to make the restricted zone over the White House (in Washington D.C.) a war zone. If not too much development time
were needed I would suggest this.

Perhaps there are some navaids in or around this area that can just be added to the Dangerous_Country Configuration File. As soon as
I get a good map of the area I’ll look for some.

Ultimately I can update my own config file for this. However, I think adding this to the default config file would make for a good sells
point. “Will be shot at if you go into the restricted zone in Washington D.C.”

If it's included in the Dangerous_Country Configuration File you will be shot at and perhaps shot down.

If in real life you mean? The same thing more or less. Depends on the situation and aircraft but there comes a point that you will be shot
at in real life.

Sense FsP already has the Dangerous Country logic it shouldn't be hard to implement. I'm going to add what I can to the config file
myself if it's not in the released version of FsP.

Well, I guess the no flight zone isn't just over the White House but a larger part of Washington, DC, so then I guess it might possible to include.

Not sure if FsP will have the war zone logic for restricted airspace near the white house. Not even sure if Dan wants to implement such
logic. But it's implemented in other places such as IRAQ.

I had one engine go out do to some ground fire and had to nurse the 737 to an alternate on one engine!

don't bother changing anything in the dangerous_place.cfg yet...

the system is changing completely, some test have
showed a big mess with the current system....

the detection was done by ICAO name, first two letter should have been country code
ORKG=Irak etc etc...

well.... OR1A is in oregon.... problem.... and there is a lot of place like that in US
that have other country code in their name.

Anyway, I'm currently writting what I find finally a better system, first it will far less complicated
than relying on this #ç%&* gps callback of Fs2004... (internally of course)

And second you will be able to define any area even if there is no airport near it...
it's based on a circle , center point is lon lat and you define range and name...

one entry in the CFG look like that now:
Irak; fail=10; war=80; lon=12.80; lat=10.25; range=300;


the minus is that you must define more than one entry for a country to have circle covering it,
also it's a bit less intuitive perhaps to make a new entry for the user...

the plus is that you can define ANY place even a mountain with a specific war level or risk level...
and it will also work far better, the GPS of Fs2004 is a big mess, not very reliable, slow
and working by airport name only would have caused problem.... (move 10km right of KCCR
your in safe area because there is another airport not defined as war area, move 30km left your still
in KCCR war area... nasty)

So, no problem for setting a war level around white house or pentagon....

waht about groom lake aka area 51?????????????

If it's not in the initial release of FsP you can always add it in your self (area 51 or any other place for that matter). It's fully customizable.

So you can make your own restricted areas?

It would be more accurate to say that you can make your own war zone areas. But for all intense and purposes it's
like making your own
restricted areas / no fly zone areas.

I'm willing to bet many VA's will be using this feature! Having pilots run medical evac or supply operations in and
out of war zone areas. I could go on and on. FsP is unleashing FS9 to another level!

new dangerous area done...

it's perhaps a bit more difficult to add a zone but it's far more flexible...
by drawing small or big circle you can make complex shape
even having a big circle at 90% war level with a litle circle inside
at 60 level...

(to simulate landing on a town that is attacked from any direction for example)

each entry look like this in the cfg:
Irak; fail=10; war=80; lon=43.68; lat=33.10; range=400;


Now I have to redefine all the zone....
