The cross country.

Well tomoro is the big day. Toninght Ill be doing the final Flight planning for tomoros cross country flight. the plane is VFR direct from
CRG (Craig municiple, Jacksonville FL) to OCF (Ocala international, Ocala FL)

iss get the waypoints picked out and get what i can toninght. then finish up in the morning once i get the wind information.
Ill arrive at the airport at about 1:00PM. and plan to be back by 5:00PM.

ill be bringing the Camera along so ill be shure to let yall see the pic's.

Alas.

Just one of thoues things. one bad thing about flying in florida during thi time of year is the weather. storms have been known to rapidly
form and intinsify out of no where. and thats what happened.

the flight was canceled due to thoue pesky pop-up storms. and OCF was expecting a line of storms about the time we would have arrived.

You make me proud boy. There is more to being a pilot then wiggling sticks and pushing peddles, there are decision making skills to be
learned. One of the hardest things to do as a young stick wiggler is to say "no". I passed my PIC ride after my check pilot asked me to
make a VERY tricky confined area landing and I said no. He repied "Good, because I know it's too small to land in". Keep up the good
work.

the benifits of canceling was an hour of ground to review how well i planed the flight.

the result. a good job with only 2 errors.

error 1, Oly odd pilots fly east. east gets odd altitudes, west gets even. in florida that is turned around abit. since florida has alot of north
south traffic instead of east west. we turn that abit. south bound is odd, north bound is even. i got confuse and planed 5500 on a south
west flight.

error 2. the flight was direct. however CRG is on 1 side of the crart, OCF on the other. whiel fliping around i ended up with a diffrence in
course headings. altho not big, we would have passed withen visual range of the airport.

just the other day, was graduation. a very good freind of mine was graduating high school, i was worryed it might rain on her parade
caues mer 2 hours before the cerimony a strong storm formed and intensified to the point we had purple on the radar screens. all this
happened directly over the town. and withen 10 min, it was clear 1 min then then raning sideway with hail the next.

infact to day, i live 1 hour from the flight school. over my houes, home town including the airport. we had perfect flying weather, aside from
a hot temp. but as i drove into jacksonville, clouds gathered, rain came down, visibility droped.

just goes to show ya, you need to whatch the weather. get thoues outlook breifings.

we will proably end up going north instead of south beacues of the weather

It's easy early on to get confused about the east/west VFR/IFR altitudes...especially when flying SSE, SSW, NNE,etc. We've all had those
moments as student pilots and beyond. It's definitely nothing new, so don't feel bad

A controller once explained to me that they use "tree six zero" because just using "zero zero zero" (or just "zero") could get pilots in deep state
of confuddleness whether they had missed a digit or misunderstood one. Kinda made sense to me that day but then...I was half drunk as
well XD

id say use 360.

but i think we can all understand the 360 is the same as 000

like zero hundred hours, is the same as twenty four hundred hours

in regards to my up comming croos country. things have been getting kinda heptic latley, it seems when i actualy get a day to fly, the
weather will hamper things, im going to ask my instructor if we could fly north bound instead of south.. im shure we can find a good
airport up in georgia. plus a chance to fly over my house in them iddle of the okefanoke swamp, can you say lost procedurs

we will try a north bound flight. CRG (Craig FL) to BQK (Brunswik GA).
hard to get lost on this one, we will fly streight up the coast, the bigest obstical will be the P-50 airspace over STmarys. it lies over kings
bay navel base, very sensative area. i know several people that work thier. this one should be fun.

Watch out for the low level helicoptors comming out of Hunter AAF when you pass by Savvannah.

brunswik is about 50 south of savannah. but we did have some close calls. 1 on the way up, then agien on the way down. also a Delta CRJ-200 landed
whiel we where getting ready to leave. got home about an hour ago, got some good pics, uploading them now so check back in about an hour at most.
