i hate portugal all they do is beg the refferee to give them penalties and red cards to the other team and dive just to say it was a foul

I found this about Rooney's threaths. What I say is SHUT THE [language edited] ROONEY! Who does he think he is? He's going to stomp on a player and then shove another player and he expects not to get a card? And then he's going to blame Ronaldo for it? The only reason Rooney got that card is because of his childish temper. Its like if I go on the street and shoot some random person, and my friend goes to the police to report me, would I blame him for going to jail? Well, thats what Rooney is doing. I don't know why all of the brits are saying that its Ronaldo's fault. I bet that if Rooney was in his position he would have done the same exact thing. Just becuase England lost in the World Cup again they think that they can blame someone else becuase they weren't good enoght to win? Even when Rooney played Engalnd still didn't dominate agains Portugal. And even if Rooney was still playing and scored a penaly in the shootout they would have still lost 3-2. The World cup isn't about making friends, its about winning. If I was in Ronaldo's place I would have done the same thing! Wouldn't you if you saw your teammate gettings stomped on? After all, International duty is more important than club duty. And I don't even know why Rooney is threathening Ronaldo. To sum it up............................ language again edited ROONEY[/b] Post Edited ( 07-04-06 05:15 )

btw, 1) Ronaldo might be moving to Madrid after this world cup. and 2) he said to ignore the tabloids, they just wanted something to write. He says
him and Rooney are still good friends and that Rooney even congratulated him after that match. He says they are still good friends.

ok well, no need to argue about stupid stuff. whats happened has happened and we can't change it by argueing or anything so lets just forget about the
whole Rooney/Ronaldo issue.

and to reply to your question......
yes Rooney got himself sent off, by reacting. i fully agree with that. If yoiu watch the video, the ref wasn't going to do a thing about the 'stomp' he only reacted once Ronaldo had been pushed. Would Rooney do the same?? You asking would Rooney run 20 yards and waved an imaginary red card to try to get someone sent off? the answer is no, and the same goes for all the England players Tell me or show me any clip you can find of an english player waving an imaginary card? ![]() Also, it shouldnt have happened anyway, again if you watch the clip, you will see rooney should have had a freekick 20 seconds before it all went off with 2 people wrrapping there legs around him while they were on the floor, but did he go to the ground like most other players would, or did he start on his feet and battle for the ball - so really, he got sent off for not diving - hmmmm, makes you wonder dont it Italy dive and knock out australia Rooney dont dive, and gets sent off Great referreeing ![]() Quote:Its like if I go on the street and shoot some random person, and my friend goes to the police to bad example, its nothing like that at all. ![]() Anyway, we out now, its not the end of the day, we only lost a football match ![]()

yeah I agree that there should have been a foul for England before Rooney stomped on Carvaliho. I don't know wheather the ref was trying to play
advantage or what, but there was a foul on Rooney. It looks like Rooney lost his temper becuase he was fouled and stomped on Carvaliho(sorry for bad spelling). Then Ronaldo ran across to confront the ref and when Rooney shoved Ronaldo it looks like the ref was mad so he gave Rooney a red card. Had Rooney restrained himselft he might have only got a yellow for the challenge on Carvaliho. So yes, Ronaldo didn't get Rooney sent off( he's not the ref, he can't get anyone sent off. And what was the last time that a ref listened to a player), Rooney's temper got him sent off. Rooney reminds me of Stoitchkov, if anyone knows who he is. ![]() Anyways, no need to argue about stupid stuff, whats done is done.

Quote:And what was the last time that a ref listened to a player very commonly, if you get 8 players surrounding you, you get pressured into making wrong decisions. eg, when Messi was fouled by Robben in last years champ league match, all the Barca players surrounded the ref and basically got Robben sent off. It happens all the time IMO only the captain should be able to voice his opinion to the ref, just like in ice-hockey etc, and if other players do it, they get punished. Say something to the ref, get a yellow card, you would soon stop voicing your opinion ![]() Post Edited ( 07-04-06 09:19 )

yeah, I guess I didn't think of it that way. But what I think got Rooney that red card was shoving Ronaldo. Had he not done that he might have only
recieved a yellow. btw, looks like Ronaldo is the most hated man in England at the moment, huh? ![]() Post Edited ( 07-04-06 09:20 )

Well, there will always be a section of England supporters who will blame Ronaldo for our exit, but as most of us know, we just didn't play well
enough at all to deserve to continue in the tournament. Ronaldo's behaviour is just the reason that I am gradually going off football though. I watch it to see players trying to stay on their feet, desparate to score and win, I also like to see players being fair and honest to each other. I would love to see football follow rugby and cricket (the recent Ashes series was a good example of two teams fighting each other almost to the death but in a good spirit). When you add to this teams that all football fans know will dive in and around the penalty area to gain an unfair advantage (Italy, Argentina, Portugal and so on), all it is really doing is lowering the quality of the game. Refereeing quality (or lack of it) is very much to blame, but most of all FIFA are at fault. Time for some wholesale personnel changes - bring back Pierluigi Collina!!!

Quote:i hate portugal all they do is beg the refferee to give them penalties and red cards to the other team and dive just to say it was a foul ![]() incident just involves 1 guy in a team of 11. and there are 10 millions of Portuguese... It tell it all and I don't want to insult millions of persons just because one football player behaved poorly. Also, isn't it a pity that in a match when during 120 mn both teams pulled all the best of themselves wh shall now just remember about one guy loosing his temper and another loosing his self pride. Forgotten, the numerous and good tries in front of the goals, forgotten the spectacular goal keeping of Ricardo. Quote:I would love to see football follow rugby and cricketI fully agree Tim, at least for rugby because I don't know anything about cricket ![]() around both games. Although rugby is a game involving full physical clash.I never heard about street fights between rugby supporters, I have never seen after a rugby match things like what happened after Germany-Argentina or during Netherland-Portugal. There is a tale saying: Football is a Gentlemen game played by bullies, rugby is a bullies game played by Gentlemen. No wonder why so far. About the refs, remember that some errors look obvious to us after seeing the video play back and forth with stops on frames took from the camera which was on the best angle. But the footballs refs don't have the video tool, they have to take immediately a decision on what they have seen in an eye blink from where they are. Probably introducing the video as a tool for the refs when they have a doubt would help ![]()

Quote:im not insulting the portugeese im only insulting the team OK Jet dude, understood ![]() I just wanted to underline the difference between the image given by a game team and the people. Also I try to keep my own chauvinism as "positive" as it can be so, all right for "ALLEZ LES BLEUS !!!" but no way going bashing or undermining any other team and supporters. In fact it is a purely emotion driven process who make suddnly for a couple of weeks people identifying themselves to their national football team. For this, when it goes about unwishable behaviour, I prefere to just mention the individual(s) who did it and leave out teams and countries ![]()

Congratulations to both Italy and Germany for such a great, epic game. Italy on their way to their 4th World Cup, Mediterranean blood,...

Germany v Italy
From a neutrals point of view, prob the best match of the competition. Before it started, i favoured Germany, due to Italy's cheating to win over Oz By 90 minutes, both teams played great, hardly any diving at all, and i personally think Italy were just shading it. BUT, what can i say about the 2 goals, great football, great goals Man of the match for me,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, The Referee. He was simply stunning, never put a foot wrong, didnt fall for the few divers there were, wasnt card happy, let the game flow, which proberly made the match as good as it was. Sorry for Germany to be out Congrats to Italy |
