I didn't "quit" the military. Once a Marine, Always a MARINE! Oohrah!
Okay, now that I got out my little Marine pride, I can talk seriously here. lol. I was honestly just getting tired of CONSTANTLY risking my
life to an extreme extent. I settled down in the past few years, and have a wife and two children now. I love flying, so would never
consider leaving the business altogether, however when my 4 year military service contract was up in 2002, I chose a "Honorable
Discharge" over renewing it. Really just a personal choice. With all the fighting these days, and the war in Iraq still continuing, I couldn't
risk it with my family on the line.
I'm actually hoping to fly 737's until I have enough money saved up to: number one, retire, and number two, purchase my own leisure
aircraft to tour the world with my family!
Unfortunately, this means I'll fly till the forced retirement age, and then still won't be halfway near the money required for my outrageous
dreams!
I really like doing what I do now, and love the fact that my schedule is VERY flexible. For example, I only flew for a couple of hours today.
Made a total of TWO flights, and now I'm back home. There aren't very many jobs that offer that level of flexibility!
Hope I answered your inquiry!
