best tip is the most obvious
i got to say practice makes perfect
usally my approach speed is 140kias in a 737-800, on ILS approaches i use autpilot down to minimums then i cut off autopilot with the Z
key, at 100 above i hit the S key (this i set in the controles menue as its not default) but dont touch the throttle until 30-50 ft above, FSX will
keep your throttle seeting from autothrottle until you manualy change it, i also start a very small pull up at 100 above probly about 1-3
degrees per seconed and thats from a 3.5 degree pitch as indicated by the PFD
to auto land the default 737-800 set up for your appraoch as normal. check following conditions
autobrake set
spoilers armed
autopilot on (set to approach hold)
autothrottle on (set to Vref)
gear down (obviously)
the default autopilot is not capable of autolanding but there is a way to do it.
set your altitude hold to 0000 but dont turn on alttitude hold, set Vertical speed to -100 or -200 (use -100 unless nessacery, but dont go
above -200) watch the glideslops dimond the FSX autpilot will hold it preety good if you set everything up correctly (it takes some practice
to achieve master throw skill)
normally if you left the approach hold on the GS will start to rise as you get closer to the runway, so the aircraft will pitch up to get back on
glideslope, this is where it messes up as the glideslop will shot back down below ideal, so the aircraft will nose down to get it back. this
useally ends up with the nose down on touchdown, withch will caues the nose gear to break and callaops.
that happens 90% of the time you leave approach hold on, one time approach hold actually held the GS all the way to touchdown,
back to how to autoland. you have to watch that GS dimond
check the te following conditions are set
alttitude hold selector set to 0000
vertical speed selector set to -100
N! hold selector set to 20%
autopilot and autothrottle on
at 200 above get ready. make shure your still on GS and localizer, if your not lined up correctly go around dont force her down. anyway
whatch the GS dimond it will start to move upwords, when it actualy starts moving up is diffrent everytime (but its usealyy arounnd or
below 100 above) so you have to watch it, when it rockets uppush the altitude hold butten (approach hold should stay lit) the aircraft will
now do a descent of -100 (what you set in the Vertical speed selector
when you are 40 or 50 above push the N1 hold button and the engines will spoll back to idel, touching down nice and easy. aftr
touchdown turn off autothrottle (i recommend setting a key for this i use the S key) and activate revers thrust (after the nose gear touches
down)
thats how to autoland the defalut 737-800
it also works in most other default jet aircraft. but ive only tryed it in the default 737-800 and 737-400 (from FS9)
like i said before " it take some time and practice to ahive master throw skill but its well worth it"
thought yall might like to see the results of useing the autoland teniece i described above.
when its done corecctly look what happens
