Most VAs are boring - sorry to say - and have a subpar websites, unrealistic or non-existent dispatch and just provide you eventually with a livery
and a flight plan. Most of them do not support for payware planes -or- their webpages haven't been updated since 2001. The only thing that most VAs
offer are type-ratings based on useless piloting hours without any certifications, checkrides, etc.
And that is from someone who tried most of the major VAs: British Airways Virtual, Livewire, Flying Tiger VAs, Noble, Westwind, Eastern, Meridian -
you name it. If I want to fly "for" an airline then I'll download their schedule from the Internet. Unless they provide more realistic operations
(ACARS, dispatch), I am not interested. This sounds harsh, but that is just my experience.
The only VA that could keep my interest so far is MidContinent Airlines and the Virtual Pilots Association.
Proposal:
The FSPassengers VA option has failed in my eyes to generate any interest (unfortunately) with external VAs. People want to be competitive and climb
up the ranks, earn more virtual salary and the company in return wants to maximize revenue. Unfortunately, this hasn't happened yet, because VAs pop
up and disappear all the time and no VA so far wants to have their pilots require to own a copy of FS Passengers.
I think it would be a great idea to establish a dedicated server for virtual FSPax airlines, where CEOs can start their own airline and "hire" pilots.
With that you'll have multiple carriers completing against each other AND pilot competing against each other to climn through the ranks. Now THAT
would be interesting. Like a mix of Airline Empires with FS Passengers support and "real" pilots flying the routes.
What do you think?
Cheers,
Pat
