Your right,
Is the united state the only country to use 18'000 ? if yes I can decide based on the position of your aircraft you fly else I'll make it set by option... Dan

I have this...
Austria 5000 Belgium 4500 Denmark 5000 France 4000 Germany 5000 G. Britain 6000 Ireland 5000 Italy 6000 Luxembourg 4500 Netherlands 3000 Norway 4000 Spain 6000 Sweden 5000 Switzerland 5000 Will search to find if this is actual number or if finally they all decided for TA 5000... Dan

About lights,
I have looked at a couple of airlines SOPs and have found the following. 1) Landing lights are only selected when cleared for take off, or cleared to land. So, if you are told to line up and wait (taxi into position and hold in american) you select strobes on as you enter the runway, at night you would leave the taxi lights on to aid vision. Then when you are cleared for take off you deselect taxi lights and select landing lights, or during the day, just select landing lights. 2) As soon as you are airborne you deselect landing lights (infact some aircraft have a speed limit of 180 kts with landing lights on - and some have landing lights on the undercarriage struts which are retracted straight after takeoff). 3) usually, the 10,000 ft rule is used to select/deselect seatbelts by many airlines. At the same time the tail logo light is selected/deselected at night (to improve visibility to other aircraft), but I have not heard of leaving landing lights on up to 10,000. 4) nav lights are usually selected after engine start, and just before taxi. To sum up, real world SOPs (at least the ones I have seen) Beacon on before start Nav lights on after start Taxi lights if needed at night Strobes on when entering runway (off again when leaving runway) Landing lights on when cleared for take off/or when cleared to land, off as soon as airborne (sometimes on check list with flaps up) Can you make it user definable, as I would be irritated at having to have my landing lights on up to 10,000 (although I could just turn off the light penalty, but this would defeat the object of using the software) Can't wait!

Hello everybody !
I think it's more important to respect FS's transition altitude. Does FS make a difference considering your departure or arrival country ? If FSP makes a difference depending on where you're flying whereas FS doesn't, there will be a problem. Example : I start my flight at Geneva so the transition altitude must be 5000 ft. If FS considers the transition altitude is 18000 everywhere in the world, you have to make a choice : switch à 18000 fts and have penalties from FSP or switch at 5000 ft and hear ATC requesting you to climb to the previsouly indicated altitude (because if you don't have the transition altitude of FS, you're altitude won't, of course, be the good one). Am i clear ? Vincent

FS ATC uses 18,000 feet regardless of continent or country.
This is only an issue if you are using add on products such as Radar Control (I think version 4 will have different levels for different countries)

Actually, Radar Contact V3 already supports multiple TA , in Controller Info page, in the Trans Lev field. You can set Departure Transition
Altitude, and the Arrival Level Transition.

Done.... default will be 18'000ft is this is the default Fs ATC also ...
![]() About light sorry I'll let it like one real pilot told me... FsP cannot comply all the flight rules in the world, it make already 45'000 lines of code (45'798 without comment exactly) wich is Immo the larger add-on code ever made for Fs2004... and I must either release a product that will perhaps not be the most perfect in the world within one month or release the ultimate add-on ever made for Fs2004 in... 2008 Later by request as already said FsP can be improved... Yes, because for now it will be better not to use this because departure and arrival can differ.

I plan to use all difficult (real) settings based on how "sensitive" the settings are. I figure FSPassengers is there to keep me flying as if I
were really responsible for people/cargo and responsible to Government regulations. I look forward to being FORCED to fly correctly. PR

After trying all the settings in FsP I seem to have left the light penalty on hard (I control all the lights).
As I was constantly getting penalised for not doing the right procedures. I decided to print up a checklist. The information was first taken from the welcome screen which now has a first flight checklist. So I have been getting no light penalties. But I still have other areas where I need to get better. For instance. I fly from Brisbane to Sydney on a regular basis. In FsP I set the flight time to 1hr 20minutes. As this is such a demanding flight (due to time restrictions I need to get up fast and travel at mach.82 to .84.) The other day while climbing to FL320 I was doing 330kts and passing through 14000ft .I was nearly maxing the overspeed of the aircraft. As I had real weather I was met with a 19kts headwind and all of a sudden (BANG!) The aircraft was in overspeed. After landing I looked at my flight report in horror. There were no light penalties this time but only an overspeed penalty. Dam Dam Dam. I once also had to land my 767 at 190 kts due to the fact that my girlfriend pressed F8 while I was flying at FL160 So out come the flaps and once again (BANG!) the flaps were no longer part of my aircraft. I found it very hard to slow down and land without flaps was bloody hard (Thanks Dan). So long story short. For me I use max settings. In a few months I think I will have memoriesed all the correct procedures without fail. Post Edited ( 05-17-05 00:43 ) ![]()

I will use difficult in both. I already am using the lights and alt. that way and it will only make a small change for me. Most of the airports I
fly to (Alaska) already have the landing, strobe and nav lights rule.

Well, Shane, I'm learning of your experience: I'll ask my girlfriend to stay away of the F8 key...

Your absolutley right Pagir, real airline pilots are expected to go through checklists. It only makes sence for us to do the same.
