Tail Strike Penalty?

This may have already been brought up sorry if it has.

I am a KC-135 pilot in the USAF and we have a crosswind limit of 25 knots or we run a great risk of scraping an engine pod.

Is this a feature in the game? If not is it able to be added?

And by the way I can not wait to buy this software. If it is half as good as it looks it will be more than worth it.

I just made somes test on this subject, yes it would be possible...

Anyway I was wondering if this would be good for the gameplay...

Let me explain:

Even if you fly in real weather you still fly in an environment fully controlled by you,
you decide of the conditions, so this penality would simply forbid people to fly in real bad weather...

So, I mean... (pardon my english) it would look like you give yourself a slam on your head and you get a penalty
for being slammed...

Second reason: In real world there is a lot of help to give a solution to an airport that is unusuable
because of the wind... You can ask the tower a diverting airport and you have several help on ground to give
you the best diverting airport... there is nothing like that in Fs.. so you come to an airport, listen ATIS
see that you can't land and then ? you'll be stuck to bring the map, stop the game and look every weather station
in airport around... not very realistic and appealing... It could be nice if the tower ask you to divert and give you an alternate
airport but FsP doesn't do that... and reworking the COM in Fs2004 would mean several month of work...

Last reason, I'm sure only a few simmer are really aware of what is really an ATIS and what are the exact procedure
and cross wind limit... so this penality would only be here for somes hardcore simmer that want full realism, but in this
case as said in the second point their wish would not be full filled... by the time you bring the map and click on every
weather station you might better cut off the wind in the MTO dialog and land were you intended to land primarly...

You could implement it if you want, but I'll probably turn the option off. I almost can't stand flying in anything over a five knot crosswind anyways
with flight simulator. Planes big or small have a terrible tendency to drift off centerline in anything greater than a soft breeze. Crosswinds are
not so hard to handle in real life as they are on flight simulator.

Personal note...

I use Active Sky and only fly real weather and that is all I am interested in. After all it is simulation we are striving for right.

I don't think that someone that wants to fly in weather that is suitable for an Ulralight should effect flight simulation that deals with a
minimum of general aircraft.

Shoot that is what it's about is flying not gliding... (grin)

Just had to through in a couple of cents... Nothing personal by the way I only have about 12-15 hours of dual time in the real deal anyways.

For my first post here, I wish first to tell that this software is EXACTLY what I felt missing in Flight Sim: The passenger point of view. and by
this a more accurate evaluation off our skill. As told in some advertisement "I drreamed about it, you are doing it...)

As so many of us I cant wait for the release so I URGE you to....Take your time, don't give up to our pressure, don't rush. Your software is the
object, not the release date.

Replaying some of my landings, I could see some "splendid" tail strikes when landing at too low speed. But at the moment this remain unnoticed so it
is easy to be fooled happy of us about what was in fact a crap landing. So I think penalties about that are necessay just to KNOW it happend.

Just two questions :
1) As Fspassenger is OK with all planes (Great new, I was affraid to be stuck on the FS standard planes), I suppose you can read from the model the
various limits like speed upon weight and flaps, max pitch without tail strike. Then will it be possible to list all these limitations ? load of
planes are provided without those specs even the Vne is sometimes to be found by experience.

Will there be any interaction between the FS instructions and Fspassenger scoring ex: lflying at wrong altitude, or wrong heading ? Is there any
thing about the lrgal limitations like <250 Kts < 10 000 fts ?

Hi, yes FSPassengers works with every single aircraft we tried. Just for Concorde Koch Media it will require an aircraft.cfg quick manual
edit in the flaps section. It's already stated in their official forum it may be required to do this with other 3rd party software, and so it will be
for FSPassengers as well. It will be added again in FSPassengers' FAQ. This cfg edit doesn't affect any aircraft feature, visual or
performance, just it inhibits any problem encoutered while using FSPassengers with this specific aircraft. So it still works 100% without
any limitation using any FS aircraft you wish.

Already, FSP already requires you to respect some basic flight operations like 250 kts max under 10'000 ft. There are much more
requirements and optional penalties (several difficulty levels available from realistic to none).
Then, FSP only tracks your departure and arrival airport, not your flight path and altitude. Anyway, you can predict (or choose not to) your
arrival time. If you were not too fast or too slow, and you chose to compute your arrival time you'll get bonus. If you failed you will loose
pilot points. You can choose not to predict this arrival time so your flight time efficiency won't affect your pilot results.

Maybe you havent applied enough flaps or you havent reached V2 yet when you started to rotate...

If the tail scrapes a little bit do you get less points taken off then if you scrape a lot?

I think this game is really going to help people thinking of becoming a pilot, liek myself, as it will make it so much more realistic!
