Thanks all for your responses I did exactly as snakeboy said and disconnected my cd drive plugged in the old hard drive and voila all info
present and easily transferable now its just a case of filtering what i don't want and im back in buisness.

What I have read as being a good idea, and what I have done, is go and get an external hard drive. I took all 97 gigs I call a FS9 folder,
and copied it to the external HD in case I have a PC failure or internal HD failure, and figure about once a month I will back it up
