actually, a 3200+ for the price of a P4 3.0 Ghz sounds about right, and your 3200+ will outrun that 3.0 any day
I would not reccomend buying a slow core on the chance that it OC's well. I cant OC mine at all, but thats a Motherboard issue as well. however Im not suprised the XP 2500+ MOBILE!!! can OC well, Ive heard those are great chips. HOWEVER, not buying a 64 bit CPU I think is a mistake, even more so with windows Vista on the horizon. here is what you should buy. MSI NEO4 motherboard. AMD 64 3500+ Venice core 1 Gig Corsair XMS RAM (the $125 version, not the $200) Giga-Byte 6600GT video card (if your gonna OC it, get a giga-byte, they overclock nicly) Thermaltake PSU 480 Watts will also work, its quite heavy (note: this is a 20 pin, but will work on the 24 pin motheboard even without the Mobo. Also should get this http://www.xoxide.com/arctic-cooling-nv-...ion-2.html what it is, is a video card cooler, works very very well, my card is overclocked, and is idle and 38C, never seen it get above 55C on even a very hot summer day. plus the giga-byte coolers are known to fail. all this will cost $640 or so, Post Edited ( 10-27-05 23:40 )

sorry all, i didnt mean to start a war over processors
![]() thanks for the recommendation Sovek - if that price is in USD, thats around the same as what i will be paying for the system i posted in 1st thread, so that is not a problem ![]()

well if its the same price as the other system, remember your getting something like a 3.5 GHz CPU, not a 3.0 GHz.
And your very welcome Drew, I know my way around a system (seeing as how I built one myself, but its not what I would like, ran out of funds ![]()

The Athlon 64 3200 will outpace a 3GHz P4 but the Athlon XP 3200 lags behind it due to its 200mhz front side bus and low cache. My 3GhZ p4 is great
performance wise and of course an AMD Athlon 64 would be better but guess what, I HAVE NO MONEY ![]() BTW Very realistic sig image Dutch64, just what it does in turbulence. Very realistic. Post Edited ( 10-28-05 00:42 )
