Yes, you're right. Flying is hundreds of times safer than driving, however when there's an aircraft crash, it's associated with a lot
more stigma, and talked about a lot more. As Nem mentioned, the rumors also start to form, and while some of them will have validity,
many of them are just trying to make the story sound better (deadlier, more inhumane, worse than it is). I know that may sound sick, but
that's what the media does!

Here's some figures for you: An average of 115 people die each day in car crashes here in the US. That equals out to about
40,000 a year. Here in the US, an average of 200 people die each year in plane crashes (those are mainly GA/Small aircraft). The
chance of dying in a car accident is more than 1000 times the chance of winning your state lottery. Just think how unlikely it is that you'll
die in a plane crash! Still, VERY SAFE!

The latest report I heard is that autopsies (spelling) has started and that bodies retrieved were actually frozen... which now makes sense on the
message sent from one of the passengers.

Vey sad to hear this but airtravel is still the safest way to go, safer than travelling on roads. More people die on the roads throughout the
world everyday than in years of airtravel. Am I right?

It is indeed commonly known that the more dangerous part of an air travel is the way by car between airports and ground location.

But the human perception is not just logic. In a car we have always the feeling that we shall find our way to avoid accidents or minimize its
consequeces. A passenger in a plane must fully rely on the pilots, the plane and providence. Should something go badly, what can he do else than put
the head in the arms, then scream or pray ?

What mostly scares me is not the death but the feeling when knowing it is for now ammongs all screaming persons.
Sometimes I would like to believe in something whatever it is after death.

How scary is that. The passenger who sent the text was surrounded by frozen bodies. The police are using the Time-Stamp of the
text message as a reference to when the passengers "froze", for how long, and when.

That can happen. Typically here in the US, it's anywhere from -10 degrees F all the way to -150 degrees F in the FL300-FL400 range
(depending on the time of year, and other condtions). Quite cold!

Nope... you can't go about your life in fear. That's really not living at all. I love flying, and I've gone for about 15 years now (a little over that)
with no major incidents.

Read my statistics on car crashes compared to air accidents above. Are you scared to death every time you get behind the wheel of your
car? Most people aren't. You're a hell of a lot more likely to die driving than you are flying.

Excuse me? I wasn't at all implying that it was "comical", I was laughing because you so rudley "corrected" me by saying that it's
impossible. Mabey so, but all I said was that's what I heard on the news.

Did I at all say that "this is a funny topic"? No I didn't. Rethink the "lol" in my post, and don't be so full of yourself. I also wasn't talking about
the Cypress/Athens crash, I was talking about flying in general. Look at the top of this thread, I started it, I was the first to report it on FSP,
why would I laugh? Also why would you ever care that I put "lol" in my post. Next time you put "lol" in a post, I'll be sure to get defensive.

ehem...jetsgo, I think there's a misunderstanding. He said "That CAN happen", not "that CAN'T happen". And then he went ahead and
explained why it could happen.
But anyway, let's forget about all this and let's keep the forum fiendly as it has always been since it was opened. It would be a shame to
start an argument that doesn't even have a valid reason to exist. Let's just think about the many lives that were lost.

I didn't rudely correct you. In fact, as Silo mentioned, I didn't correct you at all. I actually was concurring with you, and menttioning
that it in fact CAN happen. You're fairly new to the forum, so let's not start out on the wrong foot. Next time, before you post a response
that could possibly be taken as offensive, make sure you read the post you're questioning thoroughly.

I did initially take your post as being quite offensive (stating that I'm full of myself, and coming off in a very rude manner), and here at
the FSP forums we like to keep a non-offensive, welcoming atmosphere. I'm one of the moderators here, and if this type of quick-on-the-
trigger posting continues, I'll have to edit or delete any messages that I find offensive in any way. I'm not just talking about messages that
offend me personally, but messages that are offensive to anyone at all.

Consider this a warning. All I'm asking is that you make sure your post is valid before posting anything that can be interpreted as being
offensive. Think before you act, that's all. I was a Marine for 12 years, and sometimes some of my comments might come off the wrong
way. If I ever come off as being offensive, please bring the incident to my attention (although I'd prefer you do it privately, via a private
message), so that I can correct or clarify the issue in question.

I'm not here to preach, so I'll end it on that note.
