If any one is going to buy vista like me.

I recommend waiting 6 months

1. The price will be cheaper
2. Microsoft MAY have fixed any security holes
3. Service pack 2 may be in the build by then?

eh well got vista business as part of the power pack, I like it after I removed the UAC... FS9 runs good, exepct for the fact that it isn't
regonizing the settings I have made in the Nvidia control panel and therefore looks like sh*t unless I enable FS AA...

What's the power pack?

The UAC implementation in Vista has a while to go, although I didn't mind it at all because I am used to something very similar (sudo) over here in
the Ubuntu world.

About the nVidia settings - try running the control panel as admin, and the settings should work in FS, too (I assume you are running FS as admin).

I have edited Vista to always see me as admin
which also gets rid of UAC...

the power pack is for business owners -- being my dad -- who pays to use microsoft services and gets their products quarterly

In the shop I look at Vista 64bit ultimate version cost about $245 is that much ?
But I bet that if you go to a place like Merlin (a danish shop for TV and Computer) you got to pay about $700!!!!!!!!! (same version)

This is really confusing
On amazon they sell Vista home premium (unclear if its 64 or 32-bit, or both) in a box for £130, yet they also sell the dedicated 64-bit version on an
OEM DVD for £80.
Now, reading Microsoft's disclaimer on the site, they say its single use, cannot be transfered to another computer and that I should provide details
of first-level support to whoever I supply the OS to (um... me)
So, if I was going to build a new computer for myself, which I will do soon, I could just get the OEM version for myself? Or would I need to fork out
the extra £50 for the boxed version? if so, where is the 64-bit boxed version!?

I have to admit I would laugh so hard if it was just a little problem,and he fixed it right after he realized he shreaded the copy of Vista.

seriousy though it kinda stupid to shread a brand new copy of Vista, just because it dosent work right of the bat, at least save it.
He just wasted around 300$ probably.

in Canada its around 500 $ minimum for vista 64bit ultimate,At the store.

Since you are building a new PC you probably are able to get an OEM version. However, I believe the OEM version is only available for the
cheapest version and you will miss some functionalities. So be sure to checkout you get the version you really want.

Actually, you can buy the OEM version even if you are not buying a computer, as long as you buy it with an *essential* hardware component (e.g. $4
mouse that you throw away the second that you get it). There are OEM copies on Newegg for Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, and Ultimate, and you
don't loose any functionality except for the fact that it is forever tied to one computer.
