Don't go with the GS is you can avoid it. It may have higher memory, but its GDDR2 not GDDR3 and all the speeds, fill rates and the bandwidth are lower. Whats your interface (AGP or PCI-E) and budget, there are much nicer cards out there for that price.
As for you 717-200, stick to the 7600GT. It's one of the, of not THE, best card out there for that price. Just overclock it a bit (BFG Tech sells factory overclocked models) and you will have a stupendous card.
