On before engine startup
Off either:
1. at 10,000 ft if no turbulence
2. off after reducing climb rate to 1,800 ft per minute or less if above 6,000 ft
on in cruise is turbulence
off on descent around 10,000 ft, but never less than 6,000 above ground level
