I mean GS and TAS (True Air Speed or Wind Speed). Normally, unless it's very windy the TAS is not far from the GS (the wind of course
varies this. TAS is our speed through the air without regard to wind. GS is our speed through the air with regard to wind) . If you factor in
the wind, we're usually between 400 and 600MPH. Remember that with a tailwind of 100 KTS, we're travelling 115MPH faster than with
calm wind. With a headwind of 100KTS, we're travelling 115MPH slower than with a calm wind. Both of these conditions occur
frequently. Remember, GS is the one that matters. TAS doesn't determine how fast/slow we're getting to our destination, GS does.
By the way, TAS will hover usually in the 300-500 MPH range.
