Most planes are more economical when flown at slower speeds. Its just like in a car. Going faster increases air resistance as the square of speed,
but time of flight is reduced only linearly with increased speed. There is quite a bit of variation introduced due to engine designs, airframes, etc,
but most of the time, you'll save fuel by flying slower. Flying at a higher altitude also saves fuel, but again it depends some on the individual
aircraft, and engines.

300,000 km/sec. Its not just a good idea, its the law.
