Personally I would consider it cheating, although I have made profit by selling aircraft myself. However, in those cases I sold the plane because I didn't like it or because it was too expensive too maintain. I even once sold a damaged plane for more than I bought it in undamaged (though bad maintenance) condition.
I have a warning for the topic starter: it doesn't matter if this is called cheating or not. Just take care you are not cheating yourself out of a lot of fun. I must confess I have cheated with other games in the past, mainly in adventures, just to get to the solution.
The end result was usually that I didn't get everything out of the game that was in it. Sure I could walk past all obstacles with a guide or
walkthrough and finish it without a lot of thought, but I often lost interest in the game before the end.
