ALPHAONE...yes, the C208 does have a terrible track record of attracting ice like a magnet...it's the slightly nose up attitude in "level" flight
that causes the problem. Currently the AD on the Caravan puts more restrictions on us, and we have to do additonal tactile checks.
Touchy engines? I don't follow you on that one. The P&Ws on that bird is a darn good engine and has had GREAT reliability.
Occassionally a fuel control unit and the igniter box will go bad, but we couldn't have an overall reliability of over 99.75% with "touchy
engines".

would be near an airport when that happens...then you can say it's a "dead" engine and a "touchy" situation. Also, did you read closely
most of those NTSB reports? Sadly, the majority of them relate to pilot error...for flying into KNOWN icing conditions and CFIT. Yes, I have
personally known several Caravan pilots who lost his/her life after making a bad decision while flying during the winter. They didn't utilize
all of the resources available to them in order to stay out of trouble, plain and simple. That's why flying single pilot IFR takes extreme
diligence on the pilot to stay ahead of the aircraft at all times, and to anticipate what could happen next. Complacency kills....
