For speed, I don't think so, this will be controlled for the FMC, if you use both LNAV and VNAV I think, the altitude might be best to set using the
MCP, but put your cruize alt in the FMC. That's how I do it... On my climb, I follow the ATC so I use the MCP to set my climb according to ATC desires
until I reach my cruize alt, wich is in my flight plan in FS9 and the FMC, so in the end, I'll reach this alt.
