Well, there will always be a section of England supporters who will blame Ronaldo for our exit, but as most of us know, we just didn't play well
enough at all to deserve to continue in the tournament.
Ronaldo's behaviour is just the reason that I am gradually going off football though. I watch it to see players trying to stay on their feet,
desparate to score and win, I also like to see players being fair and honest to each other. I would love to see football follow rugby and cricket (the
recent Ashes series was a good example of two teams fighting each other almost to the death but in a good spirit).
When you add to this teams that all football fans know will dive in and around the penalty area to gain an unfair advantage (Italy, Argentina,
Portugal and so on), all it is really doing is lowering the quality of the game. Refereeing quality (or lack of it) is very much to blame, but most of
all FIFA are at fault. Time for some wholesale personnel changes - bring back Pierluigi Collina!!!
