Restricted Airports

I just thought of a litte suggestion for later versions of FsP. Most airports (all non-international ones at least) have restrictions as to where you
can fly from and to. It would be cool in my opinion if FsP charged you/deducted points if you violated one of these stipulations. For instance, if
you flew from some airfield in Kansas that just happens to have a long runway to London, you'd get points off. Or even from Dallas Love (Wright
amendment -- Set luv free!!!) to Florida, you'd get a penalty but a little less. Just food for thought!!

Kind of hard to implemented... Maybe for FsP VII!

im sure it wouldnt be that hard to implement, you would just need to have a HUGE database specifling where you can fly to and from for
each airport, now that would probably be the tought job --- if you were trying to go for most of the airports to make everyone happy

I wonder if there is some type of database with that info already in FS? Doubt it, however.

There is a database with airport in FsP:

Icao_db.cfg

It's sooo big. Maybe it can be used, but trust me: I worked on the production_date.cfg and the dangerous.cfg database.

I can't even understand how Dan managed to make a 60 000 lines program for FsP... alone!

What restrictions are you referring to? I am not familiar with Part 121 passenger operations, so maybe that is where the rule comes
from, but under Part 91 I am sure that there is no restrictions flying out of Dallas to an airport in Florida. I've flown out of Addison, TX
(close to Love Field) without any problems.

Are you thinking of landing fees perhaps? Like flying into KSFO part 91 is very expensive versus flying into nearby KOAK.

lesser fee could be implied for flying from Love Field to Florida (Wright-Shelby Amendments) or another "illegal" state.

Personnally, I would much prefer variable loads depending on departure and destination and the time of day. So the architecture would
fall like this (just an exemple):

Major International HUBs (KLAX, CYYZ, CYVR, Sydney, Tokyo, Charles-de-Gaule, Heatrow, KJFK...): max between 200 - 400
International Hubs (KATL, PANC, CYUL, KMEM...): max between 200 - 300
National Hubs (CYHZ, Dublin...)max between 100 - 200
Regional Hubs (CYQB, Fort Meyers, New Orleans, Marseille...): max between 75 - 150
Small regional airports (CYHU, CYBG, CYQR, Fort McMurray..., : max between 20 - 45
Small airports (Chibougameau, The Pas ...): max between 7-35

Time Modifier based on local take-off time:
Early Morning (5:30 am - 8:00 am): +5%
Mid-Morning (8:00 am - 11:00 am): +2%
Noon (11:00 am - 2:30 pm): 0
Late-Afternoon (2:30 pm - 6:00 pm) +3.5%
Early-Evening (6:00 pm - 8:30 pm): +2.5% (oversees from West to East)
Evening (8:30 pm - 10:00 pm): -5%
Late evening (10:00 pm - 12:00 am): +3% (for red-eyes)
Night ( 12:00 am - 5:30 am): -50%

Sunday: +7.5%
Monday: +10%
Tuesday: -2%
Wednesday: -5%
Thursday: 0
Friday: +10%
Saturday: +7.5%

Let's say that you are taking a 747 out of CYYZ to CYVR (two major international hub) and that FsP randomly picks that 275 pax would be
the max for this flight. You're taking off at 6:30 am on a Monday so you get a 5% bonus for the time of day and 10% for the day. This
translates into an additional 41 pax. You now get a max of 316 pax for this flight. At this point, your reputation, ticket price... kick into gear
and you end up with a 200 pax flight.

Same example but this time you're flying from CYYZ to CYWG (one major international hub to a regional hub). Your max pax is now
between 75-150 and FsP randomly picks 125. You get another 18 pax for bonus and after your reputation, ticket price, number of times
you've flown there, you end up with only 95 pax. A 747 is now a total overkill and a A320 or a B737 would be better suited for the flight.

Now, we could also ad a twist: memory. For example, you fly from CYWG to CYYZ and you only get 25 pax. You decide to cancel this flight
because if would cost too much. Your next flight is from CYYZ to CYUL. You'd get a drop of 10% because of pissed off customers and
missed transfers. You could also get penalized for leaving pax behind because your aircraft was too small or the demand was too big.

Ideally, this would all take place BEFORE you choose the aircraft you'll fly or you could have an option like "Save Load and Switch aircraft"
that would allow you to change your aircraft and come back to reload it with the same pax load.

Just a thought!

The main reason, of course, for foreign restrictions WRT international airports is that non-international airports don't have customs facilities.

Hmmm... I guess I still don't know what you're talking about here. Are you talking about simulating a RW practice, or creating a
component entirely within FsP that would increase the level of difficulty for those users who want a greater challenge?

When I fly RW from KHIO (by definition not an international airport) non-stop to CYVR I have not incurred any penalties or fees that are
based upon where I flew from. I do pay landing fees and ATC charges at YVR, but that is all. And as far as flying between airports within
the US, I have yet to encounter any restrictions. Again, there may be a landing fee at a very busy airport, like KSFO, but it is not considered
illegal.

Just curious. I'm struggling just to keep my company afloat , but there's probably some of you guys that thrive on extra challenge.

After thinking about this, I'm not sure it's a so good idea:

The suggested system is too "closed": at the end, every FsP user will fly from big hub to big hub, and will avoid certain places or airports.
Let's keep FsP open!

Maybe something like that could be implemented in scenario, though..

What restrictions are you guys talking about? I'm squeezing my brain but nothing comes up . The only one I can think of is that if
you fly internationally you have to land at one of the airports designated as "port of entrance" because you need to go thru custom. You
can't land at an airport that doesn't have custom.

Hi Pagir,

Are you refering to my idea? One the problems with FsP is that you can fly any aircraft on any route and always receive the maximum
number of Pax. For exemple, I could fly a 747 from CYHU to CYQB and generate a huge profit if the company is somewhat liked. This is
not very realistic IMHO.
