my 1st proper flight with the 737 / pax

my heading for the glideslope was good - but atc told me to decent way to late, so i flew straight by the runway , this is not good, all
went great until the decent,

I just did a flight from Bergen Norway (ENBR) to Arland, Sweden (ESSA wich is my Airline hub for now with FsP), this time I followed the Southwest
style, manual throttle all the way, works great, a bit hard at times to find a correct position, or my X45 (I come from fighter sims, Lo-mac and
Falcon 4)... So I almost broke the 250knots when I was entering 10'000 feet. This time I followed my ATC, when the ATC told me to turn left and so on,
I did. And it worked great, intercepted the glideslope without problem. Very nice plane indeed, don't you agree Drew?

Yeah, blame it on the ATC, My ATC always tell me to decent too early, so I end up flying at like 2500 feet too long, but that's just me...

Thank god for addon mesh and scenery, so it's all not that bad... Except Stockholm in FS9 ain't that nice, Bergen is awesome though, the norwegian
fjords and mountains are to die for (with Scandinavian mesh and a love for mountains)

Agree, at sunset it's very nice flying there I do fly quite often around scandinavia, you should give canada and alaska a try too, very nice sceneries.

I've had my eyes on alaska and the alps. I did some runs over the alps, but the turbulence was too bad, it pushed my plane +40 knots in one go :/

About alaska, with just plain FS9 scenery and mesh in that area, I bet it's rather tame, got any advice on a nice freeware mesh?

decenting early wouldnt be a problem - looked at the FMC and it was saying i should be at 4000 - i was still sitting around at
12000

how do u know when u have intercepted the glideslope? i had the ermmm?? Loc??? pressed - but wouldnt let me press the APP
(maybe cause i was about 2000ft too high )

Freeware i don't know for alaska but there will be for sure, some others might have some nice tips about that. I saw an addon (payware) called Misty

You should be within certain range of the airport and at a certain altitude, 12000 is too high indeed And usually you will see on the pfd some
announcement that you intercepted the loc. But if the loc is not in range yet, you can't even arm the button....
Isn't there a turorial flight for that plane? Those flights usually handle with all kind of aspects of your new toy

I just followed the ATC's instruction, I did a -2000 decent based on what the ATC told me, I got down too early, but rather a bit early than late
(they told me to decent before the T/D and so I did). I also followed their guidance with heading, follow these and you'll be intercepting the LOC
or/and glideslope

Don't forget to check the NAV radios for the right MHz, it's hard to get a LOC with the VOR MHz... I tried! I ended up in the ocean

ok this is starting to pee me off now. i just did the tutorial for the 737, and all went great untill the decent. i entered the speed and altitude i
wanted at a certain waypoint, but the plane just didnt decent quick enough and again i was 10000ft above what i set when i reached the
waypoint.

I DID press the exec button after changing the altitude
im sure (well it didnt say anything in tutorial) about me having to set the vert speed, so i assume the FMC would work out the vert speed it
needed to make the altitude by the waypoint

what did i do wrong


is it time to get the Citation X back out the hanger?

I've dropped the entire idea of letting the FMC do my dives, I'm doing it manually using the MCP and V/S, -2000 will do good until you reach just
above 11000 feet, then I often switch to -1000 or so to get below 250knots... PS; I also follow the ATC in headings, that way you get a good time to
get into the correct height to intercept the ILS
