FS9 Configurator

Hi guys,
You may be already aware of this utility, its by Ken Salter and its freeware at Avsim.
The thing that excites me is you can change the AI taxi speed. you can get as much as
32 on the taxi way and 37 after they land, which has saved me quite a few go arrounds.
The utility has other options too, but this I think is the best. The file name is (fs9cfg15.zip).

There's also some programs out there that will send AI traffic into a holding pattern if they arrive too close together. Not sure how they
work though.

It's called AISmooth and it's working great! Even when I fly to heavy traffic airports at peak hour. It doesn't effect frame rates and since I
installed it 10 days ago, go arounds are history.

I knew one of them was something like "AISmooth". I know there's another one too. I might give them a try (haven't been flying with FS9
for a week or so, so I'll see what happens)

Yes, AISmooth puts the aircrafts in an holding pattern, the other one just tells them to go around....
I didn't try the other one and I don't know what it's called. It kinda sounded less attractive to me...I'd rather have airplanes in a holding than
have lots of them going around. Closer to reality I guess...

Unless you have a taxi speed utility already, the next time you get behind an aircraft taxing at
turtle speed then tell me the benefit of having AI planes in holding patterns.

The other is AI Seperation.

It checks for conflicts and as it finds them, "slews" the offending aircraft back to a minimum seperation distance that is user
configurable. It actually works quite well, but the drawback is, if there's 10 planes on approach, they're all 3-5 miles apart (as you specify
it) and all landing one after another. If you're departing, you'll be waiting.

AI Smooth spaces 'em out a bit more so they can go arrival, departure, arrival, departure, etc.

I'll try out AI Smooth. I'm still stuck with FSUIPC 3.4... does it require a higher version to run?

Too bad the default FS9 AI Traffic and ATC doesn't support delays/holds. I'd love to see delays and holds implemented in future
versions.

It seems that most aircraft taxi around 20KTS. I'm using Ultimate Traffic, and I'm not sure if that edits any information regarding taxi
speed. I definetly wouldn't want the AI taxiing around at 35 KTS or something... 20 KTS is more realistic, and it's best to probably stick
with that.

Hi Brad,

The FS9 Confifurator has a taxi speed adjustment in the top tools menu pulldown section:

Taxi speed (default = 17, optimun = 30 -32)
Land-Taxi (default = 20, optimun = 35 -37)

So as you can see you have a lot of latitude, I don't know of any AI add-on that adjust traffic speed
I have MY Traffic and it doesn't. Ken Salter does a nice job, I have this utility and FS Auto Start and
I am pretty sure that it has solved my CTD problem.
