[SOLVED] Aircraft Repair utility not doing a great job of repairing.

I just downloaded thesoftware and am having a few problems. I am trying to start a flight but it tells me that the
author forget to include the right aircraft loading data in the CFG. but they are default MS aircraft so I didnt think that
would be a problem.
But when I do the auto fix it says that it cant open the CFG in output and the modification was failed. Any ideas?

You will have to manually edit the aircraft.cfg

Ok so now Im figuring out what the real problemo is. Im not able to edit the cfg manually it says check the path and wont let me save it or
modify. Do I need a utility to modify the cfg as notepad will only save it as a .txt

notepad will do the trick, open, edit, save, and will be saved as a cfg (dont 'save as' )

If in doubt, you can post the cfg contents here, and someone (me no doubt) will make the changes for you.

heres the deal- I go to save it and it spits the directory back at me and and says check the path and file. and I cant save the cfg file. I can
make changes to the .bak file. how could I convert this file back to .cfg? would that work?

I dont understand why you cant edit and save.

Are you using vista?

Do you have permissions to make changes to the file?


if you can edit the .bak, you should be able to change the extension to .cfg - (just tried this and worked ok for me)

yeah Vista's a pain when it comes to file permissions. That's probably the cause.

Yup im on vista and I am teh system adminz (1 w1LL BAN U) sorry couldnt resist and I do have full access. How do you change the extension? the only option is a .txt or "all files" in notepad

in xp, ..

open a folder, select 'tools' 'folder options'
click 'view' tab
uncheck 'hide extensions for know file types'

then you can just edit the file name by right clicking and rename and add the new extension.


I dont know how it works on vista, but I suspect something similar.

ok so ive renamed it like youve said but adding the .extension name doesnt change the extension the file type is still .bak or .cfg

No idea why it wont just let me save it or how to change the bak that I can modify back to the cfg. this is extra frustrating microsoft needs
to suck a fat one -pardone my le francais.

again in xp,

when you uncheck the 'shown know extensions' when you edit a file, it will warn you that you are changing the extension.

I dont know how vista works, so can only hope a vista user comes along to help.

ps, Are you running fs9 as admin (right click fs9.exe and select run as admin)?

OMG I am a TOTAL moron, I had a blonde moment. I hadnt been running fs in admin mode so it was the fspas utility that didnt have the
authorization or something like that. I am extra sorry for wasting so much of your time drew, but I appreciate all of your help and if its any
commendation youve just hooked another customer! now you should go fight for commissions. Thanks again for everybodys help
