Go back to the learning center in FSX and read up again on landing speeds, etc for the big jets.
The one problem with FSX is that if you want, you can basically drop a big heavy jet down on the runway with no repercussions that otherwise would
cause tires to blow and customers to grumble and complain. FSP makes you really try harder to get it right.
When I first picked up FSP, I was blowing tires on just about every flight whether it was jets or props. Until I started flying them again instead of
just trying to drop em on the runway and walk away from it.
When you are on your final approach, pause the game and take a minute to make sure your aircraft is configured correctly. Flaps are set, speed is on
the money, speed brake is armed, etc.
Do your approach on Auto Pilot.
As you are coming up on the runway, at about 300ft, I usually disengage the AT and take it over so I can control the speed. Then disengage the AP and
continue the descent. When you pass over the beginning of the runway, begin to flare the aircraft while watching your speed. It's at this point where
you will blow a tire. This is where I'm usually in the virtual cockpit with my view up a little higher so I can see the runway.
If your going too slow to maintain flight, you'll drop like a stone and blow a tire. Hold the flare, and speed, and let the plane drop gently onto the
runway, back tires first. The landing speed depends on the aircraft so, like I say, go back into the Learning Center and do some more reading.
Once you get the landing procedure down, you won't blow a tire again. But you do need to practice it.
One of the tricks that I did was to create a company just for practicing. Then set up really short flights say from San Francisco to Sac Intl. This
way you don't invest a ton of time flying to have it all fall apart at the end. Word of advice at Sac Intl. If you get assigned to runway 16R, ask for
16L. 16R is offset and on an ILS approach you'll always land in the weeds!.

No, 72 ft/mn shoudln't blow a tire, but you've also got to take into account that FSPX does have the random failures, and a tire blow out is one of
them; this of course is dependent on maintenace and how old the tire is etc.

Your right whiskey, I had forgotten about the FSP built-in maintenance program. If FSP is true to form, and I have no reason to believe otherwise,
that should be part of the ongoing PM schedule. Every time I start a flight I just automatically do the maintenance on my aircraft so it hasn't become
an issue.
