Hi,
a thought that I have had in my head for a while now is that because there are probably more PC pilots in the world than actual pilots, why don't the
likes of the NTSB and other agencies of this ilk from around the world, release their findings or the details relating to an air accident in such a
way that it is capatible with flight sim software.
Lets say, for instance, an accident occurs where there is some kind of instrument or mechanical failure and this leads to a crash. What if all the
available data was in some way stored as say an fs2004 flight plan with all the aircraft data such as, type of aircraft, type of failure, weather
conditions, altitude etc, etc..
All the simmers around the globe might be able to access this information and try to see if there was a way that the accident could have been avoided.
The one advantage maybe we as simmers have is the fact that our accidents/crashes cost nothing, we can keep on going over and over the scenario time
and again and we have not had the ligitimate training that a real world pilot needs to go through, which means that we may have the ability to think a
bit more laterally and not solely by the book.
Maybe by many people trying the same scenario over and over that new information will be gleaned to help real world aviation.
Forgive me for posting my thoughts here that do not directly involve FSP, it just seems like this place is full of people like myself who has an
absolute passion for flight and using the FSP expansion for MSFS is probably the closest most of us will get to sitting in the real pilots seat.
Maybe we could all give something back to possibly the one thing we feel passionate about.
Okay, prehaps FS2004/FSX will need a bit of tweaking to allow what I am thinking but surely anything is possible.
Just my thoughts, tell me to get lost, get a life, etc.. if you like. I just needed to air them.
Kirk..,

If only those Wright brothers could see us now!
