ATR vs. LUKLA

ok, well I want to be able to fly the real Lukla approach and land on the sweet hill, but im also wondering if I would rather get the ATR, I
figure Lukla would be fun to be able to takeoff a difficult rwy, fly around the mountains and come back for a very interesing approach, but
then I could use the ATR for prop jobs else where... what would you recommend?

seeing as im not going to get much opinion now, I think im going to go with Lukla, becuase I want the airport challenge, it looks fun, and
its cheaper and dont feel like learning a whole new aircraft right now... anyway ill get the ATR one day ;p

I believe that most guys are using a free ATR from avsim.. I myself fly the beechcraft from PMDG.

If you have the ATR sucking fumes when you get to Lukla, you'll be slow enough to stop her on the runway...that is if you are using the
payware scenery for Lukla. I've landed the ATR-72 there and it wasn't easy or a pretty landing...

Yea I got Lukla and it is alot harder than I thought it would be, but it sure is a fun approach. Im using the rockwell turbo commander and
works great for the airport.

You haven't mentioned whether or not the natives have shot at your airplane, yet

lol, I havent attempted to turn on FsPassengers yet, Iv simply been taking off turning around and landing, which so far either end in a wow
I did it right, a STOP PLANE PLEASE and mange to stop right before the wall OR my many attempts into the wall, my one attempt at a go
around into a stall into the mountain, or the several of just falling through... but It is fun! (Now i gotta worry about them shooting at me? I
already did a no engine landing just for fun, which I mangaed to do with the loss of my nose gear)

Yep, Lukla is a dangerous zone in FsP I've been shot 3 times approaching Lukla...right engine then left engine then electrical system.
You just never know what Lukla has in store for you. It would be better if you did load FsP to do these flights

Awesomely funny on several landings Hey, got to give you credit for trying with that airplane. Not an easy approach to make and
harder to land with that bird. Last landing was superb!

I like the rockwell becuase its got alot of power, so I knew it would make the landing/takeoff, just takes practice to get a feel for the plane
and the airport, cant wait for saturday.

The real Rockwell Commander is a pig in real life if you chuck in 3 people or so It's saving grace at Lukla is the turbo which will give you full
power at that altitude :D

Great landing!

I love flying around from Lukla to Mount Everest and back for landing, though not every aircraft is up for it. Lukla is a great challange no matter
what aircraft your in.
