which plane did you all start off with while being a student pilot?

I usually start with the stock mooney. It's fast, has great range, and I think it's easier to land than the Cessnas. Plus, you can
realistically change it's payload unit to simulate carrying the factory cabin oxygen system. That's useful if you ae flying in mountainous
areas like Colorado or the Alps and need to use ATC a lot due to inclement weather. (I don't cheat and roll for hours at 25,000 ft.) I keep
the plane below 12,000 unless vectored higher due to terrain and then only for as long as it takes the clear the terrain. You can't do that
in the Cessnas (except the 210) and be fully realistic.

I started with the Cessna 172 and worked my way up. It takes a while but its fun to experament with different planes.

I still have it because i dont have the heart to get rid of it. My first plane.

The 182 is a nice starter aircraft - I certainly preferred it to the 172.

But then, I modified my 182 by replacing its engine with a 300 bhp model, correctly altering the aircraft.cfg and .air file to accurately reflect the
performance difference. Note that I did this BEFORE buying the actual aircraft for my FsP airline, so it's not cheating.

The aircraft flies faster, uses less fuel, and carries a little more cargo. Makes a good bit of difference to a fledgling airline. Especially if you
can pick one up from the "used" market. I was lucky and got one with only a couple of hundred hours on her, and in 100% condition. Cost a fair bit
less than a brand new factory-fresh model.

Mike Stone's Gippsland Airvan - its an 8-seat plane. Another good one is a DHC-2 Beaver, another 8-seat plane.
