Fleet bonus too little

Greetings everyone !

Could someone tell me, why dont the additional aircraft in the fleet earn as much money as the one that I am actually flying?

Example: I fly the B727 which earns on a trip say 1.5 million, and all the others together (1x DC9, 2x ATR) earn about 300 thousand on a
given ocassion.


Also: Even if I offer good quality food at a low cost, only 1 hot food and 1 drink is sold during the 1 hour 30 min flight. Could someone a
hint about it?

maybe because if each plane gave you that much money you would get rich fast and the game would be practically pointless.

on the other hand, you might be paying the pilots to fly the plane and you might be paying money for other resources

Well, I'd like to think the plane my particular pilot is flying is the "flagship" plane, and wouldn't want the others to earn as much. Also, doesn't
the 727 carry more passengers anyway?

B727 carries 122 for the moment and the DC9 carries 94. This is my average passenger count from flight to flight. I wonder if I had the
same amount of qualified pilots in the company as the number of aircraft, would it make a big step forward? Logically it would be a
solution, and also a hard thing to achive. :-)

No the number of pilots makes no difference, I would not want an ATR or DC9 to earn as much as say a 727 or 737, the best way to earn
money is fly the biggest plane in your fleet, the others only make a bit of money to simulate they would also be flying, it was suggested to
Dan on these forums whilst still in the development stage that it may be nice if you owned multiple planes they could earn a bit of money
for you, otherwise what would be the point of owning them? Dan liked the idea and implemented it and I like the way he did it. Just gives
you another goal to reach for, a way of helping your money grow so you can afford the bigger stuff. Even my DC3 only earns 3 to 460K on
a flight with all aircraft factored in, and I've got 13 other planes all at VIP prices and service. If you really want to earn big bucks that is the
way to go, run a VIP airline, people will still use it as long as your prices reflect your capability. My VIP seats are set to $900 and I still get
a 75% and upwards pax load.

There are a few factors that come into play when calculating fleet bonus:

1- The weight of the fleet compared to the weight of the plane that flew
2- The condition of the fleet
3- The profit made during the flight
4- Pax opinion of the flight
AND
5- Flight Performance (that's a REALLY big one)

I might have missed one or two. Don't forget that the fleet bonus is there as an added incentive for building a good strong airline and that
includes flying well each flight. If for some reason you don't have a good fligh, don't expect the fleet bonus to be great.

You mentioned condition of the fleet. Although I keep all my aircraft at 100% status, do they still generate some extra costs even when I
dont actually fly them (here I mean If they were not adviced to be bought, as they were in bad shape at the time of purchase)?

No, there is no "wear and tear" of the aircraft you are not flying. They just sit there and pump out money like a cow pumps out milk

As far as I am aware, I cannot "own" more than one of each of these aircraft. For example, I own several single and multi-engine piston
aircraft, but each is of a different make and or model.

I don't actually get to end up owning several of the same make/model of aircraft as you would have in a real airline, say 20 737s or
something like that?

Am I correct?

You can own more ATRs or anything as long as they are different variations. For example I have a Caribean ATR, FlyGeo ATR, then I can
buy both. The variations have to be named differently.

One way around the livery thing is to create multiple entries in the cfg file for the aircraft, each named slightly differently but all pointing to
the same texture folder, that way you can have as many of any one plane as FS will allow. I'm planning on that when I get my livery sorted
out.

Jboweruk is right: You can even have 100 737 SouthWest with the same livery IF you create multiples entries. Just add a number at the
end of the plane's name in the aircraft.cfg:

737 SW1
737 SW2
etc...

And what about the onboard service? What could be the reason for the pax not buying food and drink (only one drink and one food is sold
on the plane per flight), whereas it is set to low price and good quality? My average flight time is around 1h 30min. Maybe it is too short for
them to feel hungry? :-)

I have around 34 or so planes in my fleet. When I tried to add more, I was told I was limited. Why is there a limitation? The major carriers
in the real world have 100's of planes, and can also earn more revenue.

Is there an upper limit to the number of planes in a fleet?
