nice Boeing 737-400 cockpit close to Dream fleet 2002

Hi there guys!!

As i've got this discussion (brad and I) all the time about Airbus vs Boeing I would like to say something more about it.

When I bought fs2004 a month later PMDG released the boeing 737 next g. Fine, i bought the aircraft but, honestly, it is good but the cockpit
is a little bit crap so I carry on flying with my A320 by PSS. Now, after being a member of fspassengers and all of you guys love Boeing I
have to say that honesly I don't fly the boeing 737 next generation cause of the cockpit. Don't know, it just doesn't look right for me. If you
compare PSS 320s and that B737/500 I think PSS 320 is much much more realistic.

Now, my question is the following. Remember that oldy B737-400 by Dream Fleet!! WOW, I studied its manual and I really enjoyed it. I loved
everything about it.. But, unfortunately I cannot find a plane of this characteristics compatible with fs2004.

Do you know of any??

Flight1 are working on a 732, and Feelthere are working on the 733/4/5 series under their Pilot In Command lable. Until then I don't know
of any. What is wrong with the PMDG cockpit though?? It has all the bells/whistles of most modern airliners and since the service
releases and patches that have been done since it's original release now even has a working VC. Having seen pics of a real 737 owned
by NASA I think it looks pretty spot on. Boeing are a very different animal to Airbus, for one thing the Airbuses are FBW which the 737
(correct me if I'm wrong here Brad) is not. The Airbus is roughly equivalent (as airliners go) to the F16 in that it's all flown by computers
and if PSS one is on the nail doesn't even have a proper throttle on it..... I mean c'mon who heard of using detents to do everything,
even Concorde (and yes she was Fly-by-wire too) had a normal throttle on her and she was 30 years ahead of her time.

What do you mean about the throttle on the airbus? Do you mean specific PSS or airbus in general? What's wrong with the throttle? It's a
different system but that doesn't mean it's not good simply because you're not used to it.

And what is wrong with the standard autothrottle system then? It's worked since year dot so why do Airbus have to do it differently? As far
as I'm aware (and I confess I could be wrong) but the only difference between the PSS one and the real one is you can use the PSS
throttle normally while the real aircraft has to use the detents. (If true then it beats me how they taxi..)

I think the largest problem with the PSS Airbuses is they were written for FS02, we need a good FS9 Airbus, I know the A340 feels as sluggish as hell compared to a 747 in the game, and the 747's in FS do seem pretty much on the nail as regards thrust/weight ratio.

As to the thing between Airbus/Boeing, competition is good, but BA pilots all seem to prefer the Boeings. At least all the ones I spoke to do.

I agree with that. PSS airbus A340 is, i am really sorry to say this, crappy. Actually, when I bought the first version a while afterwards they took
it out from market due to its bugs. Months after, they put it back on market, but still buggy. I don't like it. Otherwise, Boeing 747-400 from PMDG is
really good. I loved it, just bought it a couple of weeks ago. Didn't have the time to study the manual and procedures of the aircraft so I haven't
flown with it, not just yet.

Do you have the -8/900 update for the PMDG 737? It makes the cockpit graphics MUCH better. For me, it's a must have. I wasn't too
satisifed with the overly "clean" look of the -6/700 package, and thought the -8/900 update was EXCELLENT! I haven't looked at any of the
Airbus aircraft, and never will (in terms of purchasing... I'm happy to look at reviews/screenshots of them). I have my reservations, as we
all do, and I would never fly an Airbus aircraft (hopefully.... lol).

I've tried contacting the makers of the 737-3/4/500 John mentioned, however they haven't emailed me back. Guess they don't need a
professional opinion I'd really like to help them out, and see what the product has to offer.

I know that if you own the Dreamfleet 737 for FS2000/2002 (I still have it on CD form), there's an update that makes it FS2004 compatible,
however it LACKS many features. You might want to give it a look if you're determined to fly with that excellent panel. I do think that the
PMDG NG panel EXCEEDS the DF 737 panel, but that's just my opinion. Let's hope a nice 737-3/4/500 package is released soon (with
the analog gauges)!

Now surely coming from Brad that is a qualified statement, if he says the PMDG panel is better then that's good enough for me. After all,
who would know better than a real life pilot.

It's a different approach, i believe both systems do have their pros and cons.

The real a/c can use the detents but also manual adjustment is possible of course. It is meant as a way to ease the work for pilots, just
some positions of the throttles which representes the important phases during flight like TOGA, climd, crz etc.

That i do agree with you, especially the 319/320/321 series need a lot of tweaking to get it working well in fs09 but it can be done without
too much trouble.
The 330/340 where released later and they fly much better in fs09, but.... it's recommended to use alternative FDE's available on the net
because the ones coming with PSS are not that well designed.

Might be but many pilots do prefer the airbus instead. I think it will differ for everyone which plane he/she likes better. My brother in law
has been flying for SIA the 747 for almost 16 years now. About half a year ago he switched to a different airliner and is now flying the 320
and he simply loves it... So, this issue is almost impossible to discuss, some like this, other like that better....

The detents don't replace what you call "standard autothrottle system", they're basically another approach to the TO/GA button. Instead of
having just one button to control TOGA/autothrottle you have three detents - TOGA for full power take-off (probably never used), FLEX for
take-off power set according to the environment and CLMB for what you would call standard autothrottle.

In essence it's a TOGA button with one more setting. Not really a big modification or rocket science or anything, so where's the problem?

And of course you can controll thrust manually in a Bus, actually you can control everything manually if you want to.
