They're used primarily to inspect the leading edge surfaces of the wings at night. Normally, we'll use them to check for icing, or leading
edge flap/slat deployment. They're actually one of the most rarely used lights on board the aircraft. They do come in handy in the winter though! Hope I answered your question, if not, let me know.

Yeah thanks Brad, I been turning 'em on along with the Nav lights

Actually, I think (don't quote me on this one) that they work on the PMDG model (although they're just for show, they really don't show icing
or anything). They basically just light up the leading edge of the wing, and you can see flap/slat position at night (that's about it though!) I don't use the PMDG model (I'm using a little cheap AI Traffic SWA -700 model.... more framerate friendly), so I couldn't vouge for the fact that the wing lights work. |
