New PC --- Ebay?

I really need to upgrade my PC for this new FSX shindig.

I don't want to spend to much naturally as to get eye candy on FSX you need to spend in the region of £1000 for a fancy pants PC.

However looking on Ebay UK there are loads of shops which sell PC's with Huge specifications for about £500.

Although this comes with no OS, peripherals and moniter that would cost about £200 it has 3 year warranty.

There are so many powerfull ones on ebay it's crazy. Is there any disadvantages with buying one from ebay though?

Without looking at the specs, knowing the £ to CHF exchange rate and having contemplated a similar move many times before, I'd say that £500 for FSX
(w/o OS) is an overkill!

A PC that someone else has overclocked might be a warranty nightmare. I overclock my own PC's but there are alot of wrong ways to
overclock a computer and maybe a year from now you'll end up frying your mobo or video or something. Support your local computer
shop.

I agree - I would never buy a computer or part that's been overclocked. That aside, Ebay is a decent place to upgrade your current setup.
I personally went from an AMD 1.3 GHz machine with 512 MB PC3200, ATI 9200 to an Athlon 64 FX-57 (2.8GHz), 2GB and 7900GS for
very low money. I'd buy a part, add it to my system, then sell the old one on Ebay. I upgraded in stages, going from a 1.3 to 2.2, etc. You
just need to know your stuff and make sure that everything's compatible. If, however, your current system is very outdated, (say P2 or
something) you be just as well to start fresh.

My system performed quite well with FSX, though not at extremely high settings with 100% traffic (MyTrafficX), light bloom, etc. It all
depends on how far you want to go. For FSX, you could get all the latest "toys" and STILL be wanting more.
