2 beginner's questions - maintenance & repair

Hello all,

I have 2 questions that would like to get some help on from veterans after doing my first ever flight with FSP (which by the way I like a lot)

1/ After my first flight in a brand new aircraft I realized that the maintenance % went down to 99%. I set failures to 1% and read in the
manual that the maintenance percentage also adds to the probability of flight emergencies happening. I would like to have that 1 %
repaired however there is nothing shown on the maintenance sheet in the company manager. What can I do to avoid increasing my
failure % - how can I get my aircraft back to 100%?

2/ My second question relates to a manifest I get shown after loading my passengers on the payload dialog. Now I get this manifest
which shows some data about the flight and also some empty fields with V1 Vr and V2 below them. Does it have any function? I have not
found any mention for this in the manual. I am not using the copilot functions as I am flying a small twoseater - but I would like to know
what exactly filling up the V speeds on this dialog would serve.

AFAIR, you repair that percentage by opening Company manager, choosing 3rd or 4th tab (Aircrafts), clicking the aircraft in question, then
clicking one of the buttons in the lower right (repair selected or something like that)

The empty fields in the manifest are meant to be filled in by you. To calculate V speeds, one must take into account a few variables that
FSP cannot figure out for you. Hope the pilots here have a more detailed explanation.

THX but it seems we have two different softwares then... In company manager the first tab is 'company aircraft' while the second tab
is 'aircraft maintenance'. I can see my aircraft in the company aircraft tab - and the last column is 'status' which dropped to 99 % after my
first flight. In the second tab ('aircraft maintenance' there is no plane showing so I cannot select anything to repair...

The remaining tabs are pilot and prices and fuel, etc.

Unless I am looking for it at the totally wrong place.


Concerning the second issue I figured I would need to fill those up (V speeds) however I would wanna know in what ways filling them up
would affect how FSP is working. So far I left them empty .... What would happen if I filled them up? If it has some importance then how
come it is completely undocumented?

Thank you for suggestions - I am still stuck here i am afraid (and I would really like to keep the failure % down so I would think that there
should be a way to repair the aircraft whenever want.

I think I know what's happening. The aircraft maintenance is the proper tab, but if it doesn't show any of your company craft there, that
means the damage you received cannot be fixed at the moment. Think undiscovered damage. One cannot keep a 100% at all times
(unless you have a space shuttle, maybe). The damage you see will accumulate and become fixable when it reaches 5-10%, I think.
Anyways, how I go about it (and I think it is a realistic way), is to repair after heavy landings (it does allow me), and ignore the other cases
until the 25hours inspection, upon which I fix it all.

I've never filled in the V speeds, and I don't think it will have any effect. The whole manifest sheet seems to be there for our
convenience/realism, to be printed out and lovingly looked at while in flight : )

Ah ... it might make sense .. but does it mean then that your failure % keeps increasing??? If it is not fixable till around 5-10% then would
it mean that you are flying with 5-10% failure % plus whatever you set at setup? I do not think I like this lol...

In fact I hate it. Can anzone else please also confirm that this wouldbe the case?

And thanks your thoughts about the second issue - I am pretty sure that filling those speeds up would be meaningless apart from having
a chance to print them out.

I don't think the damage % is directly added to the failure chance - I regularly fly with about 10% of damage (well, 90% craft state) and
have not experienced increased failures.

I am also waiting for others to help us figure this all out. Out of ideas for now : )

Well the manual is telling about 'maintenance status' being direcly linked to failure% - I would believe this is the maintenance status...

Any other takers on this...?

If the plane doesn't show up under the maintenance tab, its maintenance level is at 100% (i.e. its in perfect condition). After a flight, a plane
will appear under the maintenance tab, typically just for minor maintenance. After 25 hours of flight time, there will be significantly higher
25-hour maintenance. If a plane has a failure in flight, you would use this same tab to fix damage you got in flight as well. This can be pretty
expensive too.
The chance of a failure does go up if you don't keep a plane maintained. Good luck all!

Thanks - thats clear. I know I am being anal about it but what does the 99% mean then in the status column on the company aircraft
sheet?

And especially what does the manual talk about when it says that the maintenance % of the plane is added to the failure % set by the difficulty level and the dangerousness of the area?

I sometimes fill in the V speeds. The main reason is so that the co-pilot reads them out (I don't have payware a/c - I assume that's a feature that
comes with them? I have a freeware aircraft that does it now anyway. also calculates them for me) as I reach them.

E.g. if I set V1 to 140kts, when I reached 140 knots during takeoff (whilst speeding down the runway), the co-pilot would read out "V1". He then
proceeds to call out "Rotate" and "V2" (Vr and V2, respectively).
