Hi all,
without trying the demo (insted I read the manual) I purchased fspax yesterday and after some heavy wrestling against a PF Fokker-100 (CTD, found out
later that the livery AND the panel seem to have problems) I started my first short-haul flight on mostly automatic settings and afterwards a
"charter" flight on manual service. More manual options and/or enabled penalties will now come from day to day...
Generally, FSPax in the hottest stuff I saw since FS2K4 was buyable. Sceneries and aircraft are fine and may be a joy, but yesterday I went from EDDM
to LEPA a in a B737, tomorrow there'll be a flight EDDT to DTTJ in an A320 (maybe) and today I might fire up the stock 208 caravan for a sightseeing
trip around EDDF. But I'll surely do this from now on with the FSpax active on EVERY flight. Well done, guys!
So, my further thoughts, though I still have to discover most of the stuff included.
How can I turn up the volume for the hosties? Are they automatically muted (since the flightdeck's door should be closed) or can I put them through
some WAV editor and "pump up the volume"? Are they in any way volume-wise connected to some FS settings? Realistic or not, I'd like to hear what's
going on behind my back...
In real life, I've been on quite a few flights from no-frills via holiday charter to full-service scheduled. I think the FSPax hosties are really a
slow and lazy bunch. I've experienced "feeding the masses" in packed 737-800's with "sandwich and drinks" (well, more than a sandwich but cold
pre-packed tablets), BA full service in a 757, LH's drinks-only short haul, Turkish A300's near the weight limit... my last Pax experience was on an
WDL Avroliner CGN-THF-CGN where they served one drink and a Pretzel (okay it was a 'Laugenstange' but a Pretzel is similar). Sorry, but real-life
cabin crews are quite a margin faster than the FSPax crew. Okay, I can't expect *quick* cabin service for only 31.50€ one-time fee...
Seriously, I
believe You tried a good compromise based on pax numbers, but maybe there's room for later developing some fine-tuning. Some airlines do carry more
personnel onboard than others, I've been on a LH-A319 flight from EDDW to EDDF with 8(!!!) cabin crew. Maybe that was training, but I also have seen 1
to 4 hosties in an Avroliner, too. Suggestion: in economic mode, allow some margin for cabin crew numbers (Yes I've played Airline Tycoon as well).
And, add a no-frills-mode where You actually get small sums from service purchases.
Third, is there a possibility to change the message text (from the bar) - it's somewhat peculiar to have the crew announcements in german voice, but written in english... I'd volunteer to translate...
Good stuff, thanks for Your efforts!
