Bird strike within first minute of first flight!?

Ok so I'm completely new to FSPassengers. I downloaded the demo to try it, set up a company, a pilot and within a minute of taking off on my first
flight from Buchanan, I get an engine flame out on my Cessna172SP less than 1000ft off the ground causing a crash and death of my pilot.

Am I just really unlucky or are these bird strikes that common!?

Luck of the draw I can go 20+ flights before I get my hair set on fire. Lots of fun, isn't it?

I once went about a year when nothing happened and then the dam busted and had every failure there was all in one month.

A few months back I started a round-the-world trip from Leeds Bradford, England with a Cessna 210M. I've upgraded since then to a B60
Duke Turbine, but have got all the way to Ushuaia without a single problem and now I've just had to land with no flaps, after they got jammed
on approach.

It was one of the smoothest landings I've done though, with a landing speed of 30ft/min.

Just as unpredictable as real life, huh? Must be a pretty good simulation.

I think this bird strike thing may be related to how complete your pre flight checks are done. The only time I have had a bird strike is when I did not
do a run-up and check the full deflection of the flight controls.

I'm not saying this is definite, just a possibility that I noticed.

WHAT!!!????????????????????????????????????????????? Did you just say that by not doing what every real live pilot does
before every flight made you have a bird strike? Bird strike in FSP is randomly program generated

I've never had a bird strike because of an inadequate pre-flight check. You had a bird strike because mother nature decided to throw you a curve ball
when you least expected it....just like in the real world environment. You can be as meticulous as you can be in a pre-flight, but once you enter the
runway environment, expect the unexpected.

Yep happened to me very early on second or third flight out of an guernsey heading for jersey.

Got lucky and parked my single engined Mooney on the beach after a long glide. Got penalised for stalling but thats life. (everyone lived).

Autopsy stated engine catastrophic engine failure due to bird strike.

Last time I heard that phrase was when I was when I flew out of lap dancing club due to lack of fuel (aka funds).

Result was same.

ps. never flew over water again until I gained C3.
