How many fuel exhaustion incidents/accidents you had?

How many fuel exhustion incidents/accident you had during your flight? so far i have 10.

Last occouent was on a DLH A340-600 from USA to Africa!

If I fly long routes, I make sure to plan my fuel in advance.

No, I use simple mathematics.

Amount of fuel you're expected to burn per hour X The number of hours your flights is expected to be = How much fuel you are
expected to burn.
Then, add some extra for Go arounds, taxiing, etc etc..

After so many flights with a certain aircraft, I just begin to "guestimate" by looking at my last flight with that aircraft, and seeing how much longer
or shorter this flight will be.

I´ve never had one because I use the following formula: (nm * 25.3) + 6000 + 600

I've had a lot of fuel leak failures, but have caught them in time to make an emergency landing.

I am not a real world pilot, but that much I know. Every flight starts with a "Flight Plan" (hint, hint: that term contains the keyword "Plan"). That
Flight Plan includes your estimated fuel burn based on your weight, altitude, aircraft performance and expected winds according to the weather report.

As for fuel planners, sure should one use one. I prefer using an HP48 User-RPL program I wrote myself. But for GA flying I usually do it with my CSG-9
Flight Computer. And before you get the wrong idea, that is no electronic gadget, that is a slightly specialized, circular sliderule.

Only had one leak for 100+ flights so far.

I concur with Jan: planning your flight is highly recommended (if you don't want to end up like the
Gimli Glider, that is).

In my 4500 or so hours I've had many fuel leaks etc.. Once I landed a flight with enough fuel for about 2 minutes I seem to remember. Recently I
landed a 12 hour flight on a 777 with only about 3000kg left.

I use the FAA regs that say to plan the fuel from departure to desitination at normal cruise ( calculating for winds aloft, of course ) then to alt

world flying. They have the FAR/AIM on line and practice written tests for private and instrument. Somebody on this forum showed it to me a few days
ago. I don't remember who,though. Using this formula, I've had zero in real life or sim. Although, one time when I when to rent a plane
from my flight school the fuel guages were on E when I did my pre-flight. The lineman put in 24 gals in the 26 gal tanks. That means there was less
then 1 gallon of useful fuel in the tanks. I'm thinking that Cessna says that there are 1.2 gallons of unusable fuel in each tank. The Cessna 172
burns 10 gallons an hour at cruise so you do the math to see how close they were to running out of fuel. And when the owner of the aircraft was
informed by the lineman he went balistic. He was yelling when I left on my lesson and after two hours was still yelling when I came back. I don't know
what he told the renters but the next lesson my instructor had a round table with all his students when over fuel planning first thing for everyone he
taught.

For west bound flights you need to add extra fuel because of the way the earth rotates and the winds...those flights are longers...

once in a b747-200 from saudi arabia to london and the fuel ended on final approach and i landed in heathrow safely but it was a very tough landing..
and i never had any fuel leak in my 113 flights .

Same happened to me from Santiago, Dominican Republic to New York JFK, USA. I was in a Airbus 300-600 when I'm on final and it just runs out...got a
lot of penalty points...

I suffered war zone damage that drained my tanks,
then got penalized for not loading enough fuel. On
10 mile final i had like 10 000 lbs on 3 mile i had
zero. Still landed safely, if about 200m short.

I can't count the number of fuel leak emergencies I've encountered...too many that's for sure. 3 days ago I had one with the C130 but
made the entire flight without an engine failure. One of the tanks ran dry but I was not concerned. Did not actually declare an emergency
since all engines were operating normally and had plenty of fuel in the other tanks to make the trip. But, I have never had a fuel
exhaustion situation based on bad fuel planning.
