Confused about a flight

Hello,

Ok, here's my problem/confusion:

I just flew a flight (using FSP) in Iraq, and came under a lot of firing. My airplane was damaged, and I had to make an emergency landing.
Although I tried to lower my landing gears, they would not extend. I lost all hydraulic systems. I made what I consider an excellently
smooth "belly" landing, but instead of sliding, my plane just crashes into the ground.

My confusion is:
1. Why didn't the airplane slide/skid, instead it just landed, crashed, and stopped.
2. What could I have done differently to avoid the -400 point penalty (besides not flying in a war torn area)?

Accident Report:

According to the black-box we deduce the following: One engine was damaged by small arms fire coming from the ground and ceased to
function. The right fuel tank was hit by a ground shot and lost all of it's fuel. The left fuel tank was hit by a ground shot and lost all of it's
fuel. The vacuum system was hit by a ground shot. The hydraulic system was hit by a ground shot resulting in total loss of all hydraulic
systems. The electrical systems were hit by a ground shot resulting in a complete electrical systems failure. Your aircraft received a few
ground shots. The aircraft was hit by anti-aircraft artillery fire resulting in a massive hull rupture. This was probably the root cause of the
crash. The Captain has declared an emergency before the crash.

Casualties:
-8 passengers aboard
-3 killed
-3 injured
-Pilot and flight crew were injured

Thanks for your reply.

Looking at my other reports, I see that I had another belly landing. My vertical speed was -578ft/minute. I also see that I only got 150
points for declaing an emergency, but I got no extra points for a successful crash landing. So I guess FSP gives extra points if you make
a "better" crash landing, but you stil get the -400 point penalty in any case.

Can anyone report what their "vertical speed" rate was if they had to do a belly landing, and whether anyone has avoided the -400 points
penalty?

I've had two belly landings, one -76fpm (ERJ-170) and the other 109fpm (727-200), both without the -400 point penalty.

OK, fpm was not the problem. Was the gear partially out and collapsed after? Did you come in a bit nose down as opposed to horizontal?

I never did a belly landing so I can't really put my finger on it. Sorry.

Hi all,

After thinking about it for a while, it was kind of weird:

I hit the "g" key to lower the landing gears, the co-pilot (aeroworx b200) stated "3 green" lights, but in spot view, I could see that the
landing gears were not deployed. So I hit the "g" key to retract them, then "g" key to lower them again. Again, the co-pilot stated "3 green"
lights again, but again from the spot view, I could see the landing gears were still not down, but I had to land. Maybe that was the issue?

I was kind of sad that I got the -400 points because I thought I made a great smooth, belly landing, and I lost 3 passengers :-(

Hello, me again,

I don't think the skidding/sliding feature is working for me.

I did 4 flights in war areas, and had to make emergency landings. The only landing I didn't get the -400 point penalty was when the
landing gears were damaged in the down position. When they would not extend, and I made, what would have been "kiss" to "nice"
landings, I got hit with the -400 penalty.

Maybe I am missing a FS9 setting to allow the skidding feature? Also, the co-pilot does not call out any problems with the landing gears
(even though, the landing gears do not extend). I think FSP is not recognizing the landing gears damage, thus is not activating the
skidding feature. I think I will stay out of war torn ares :-)

The latest report with the AC500: landing gears would not retract, and thus, -400 point penalty, even with a "kiss/nice" landing...

Well... I didn't disable the crash detection of Fs9 but I can "slide", Maybe you should try to diseable the Fs9's crash detection...

Hi Pagir,

I will try that, but I think I found a solution:

The last two flights I was able to "manually" lower the gears with the "control G" keys. This allowed me to make two nice soft landings
which gave me over 7600 ponts in about 25 minutes of flying. :-) Now all i need is about 25 more hours and I wil be a C9 (Captain). No
more war torn places for me; I can't fly more than 10 minutes before the plane is shot to pieces. And landing with wheels is easier than
trying to do a belly landing.
