Do I need to download a special type of plane to use is FsP? Or do I just download a normal FSX plane and add a payload model?

To my Knowledge FSPX will work with any aircraft or rotary, not all will have a payload model but most major commercial and small
aircraft there is a default payload model available, freeware and payware aircraft included

Otherwise you can find in the download section also some payload models if it isn't in FsP.
