Sometimes, when I specify lower fuel loads in the fsP load screen (20-40% depending on flight distance), my plane still ends up loaded with full fuel.
I had already specified the fuel through FS9's fuel dialog, but it seemed convenient to make slight adjustments through fsP.
Well, through the entire flight block, fsP thinks that my plane started with less-than-full fuel, when in fact the tanks started with 100%. This
makes the fuel burn statistics rather useless: fsP does "initial minus final" calculation on fuel quantities, which results in negative values for
fuel spent at each point in time, and thus, negative - and bogus - average fuel flow rate as well.
What else can one think when he sees that his flight spent negative 2000 pounds of Jet-A?
Hey! I have a really fuel-efficient plane! It produces fuel as it's burned!
Beyond that odd bit of humor, though, fsP also charges negative $$ for negative fuel used, so that fuel costs are income, rather than expense.
On top of that, lugging around a few tons of extra fuel isn't very efficient. Landing is also harder with a "bloated" plane that still has most of its
fuel (that may be partially why these two example flights show really bad landings on my part).
Solutions? Suggestions?
And is it possible to edit the fsP logs to display the correct amount of fuel used, and the burn rate? It's inane to look at the company statistics
and see that the total fuel used is less than 0.
