Price on old planes.

Hi!

I have a suggestion; How about making older planes cheaper than new? That would be more realistic! That you don't base the price on the size, but some kind
of list where there are info on the most used FS planes. If the aircraft isn't on the list you can use the method you use now. Yesterday I bought a
B747-100 and it costed MORE than a B777-200!

Well... try to buy a super constellation in the perfect condition... You'll have to put the money on the table!!!

The price of the aircrafts is based on his weight. Generally, it's pretty accurate.

But is that realistic? I think not. A Super Constellation isn't cheap in perfect condition, because there are few of them. But the wont cost as much
as a brand new A321 or B757!

I don't know if this is for real though. If it is, they're not that expensive. Generally I think the current system works well, but it would be cool
to have a file, like the production year cfg, with aircraft prices.

I won't be buing super connies though. I'm still trying to get enough points to advance to Private Pilot

I would have thought you would pay a small fortune for a "vintage" aircraft, as there are fewer of them available. Ie a Dakota(DC3).

A rebuilt (flying) Spitfire or Mustang currently goes for a little over a Million Pounds Sterling / $1.5M according to the gentleman who was showing
us around his 2-seater at Sleap a month or so back.

I wouldn't like to guess how much something like a B17 or a Lancaster would go for, but airliners tend to be a little cheaper than warbirds. I'd still
expect to be paying a serious premium for a classic airliner.

Having said that, though, a lot of "lower tier" air carriers do still use older DC8s, DC9s and B707s simply because they are so much cheaper to buy or
lease. Buy/lease it, flog it until it fails a check or needs too much work, then get rid of it and buy/lease another one. As more B757s, B767s and
A300/310s come onto the second hand market their price is dropping dramatically, so the buy/use/dispose ethos is in the process of changing quite quickly.
