Flap Penalty

Ok, I'm inflight and I'm curious. I meant to hit F9, but I hit F8 and the flaps started to extend. However, only for about 1 second because I
quickly set them back to where they should be. This occured at about 10000 feet and 250 knotts. Will I get a penalty for this, and, if so, how much?

In my experience with GA aircraft in FSP if you catch it quick enough, you will not get a penalty for it. I think that it you catch something like
that before the warning buzzer sounds or the co-pilot gets rude, youi don't get the penalty points. The rest of you are free to correct if I'm
wrong, of course. I'm not sure what goes on in the big fellows since I still toodle around in my mooney and Angel 44. Perhaps the
smaller planes are more forgiving with these things.

The flaps penalty is applied if you forget to use them for landing or taking off, if you are already airborne then the flaps penalty does not
apply, instead what happens is that if you extend the flaps and you are above the flaps damaging speed then they will be damaged (usually
they will get stuck extended) and the co-pilot will report the fault. I don't think that there is a specific panalty for this, I can't remember for
sure, but you will of course have a nice bill to pay for the damage.
So I would think that in your case sfgiants, that one of two possibilities occured.
A. The planes flap damaging speed was above 250 knots
B. you managed to close the flaps quicke enough to prevent any damage.

I think that A is the more likely as the program is probably set to register the flap extension being activated rather than the extent to which
the flaps actually extend and for how long. I could be wrong though.
