Last night I logged a flight from Boise ID to Pendleton OR hauling cargo with a Maule. Here's a copy of the income, or I should say
negative income.
Ticket Income: +$0 (169 Nm)
Cargo Income: +$251 (584 lbs)
Services Income: +$0 (0 sandwich 0 hot food 0 drink)
Services Cost: -$0 (43% quality)
Fuel Cost: -$98 (110 lbs 100LL)
Airport Taxes: -$2 (Small Aircraft)
Insurance Costs: -$10 (4.32% rate)
Penalty Costs: -$350 (see penalty points)
Total Real Income: $-209
Total Income: $-10,450 (real x50)
Fleet Bonus: $0 (0 aircraft)
Total Sim Income: $-10,450 (total income+fleet bonus)

Is the program real or am I doing something wrong? I had a penalty because of some light configuration problems but I cannot figure out
why the negative total income.

you had... -$350 for the penalty - this is multimlied by 50 for you end report

you go 250 for the cargo u transported
cost u 98 in fuel
and the 350 penalty
= negative income

so your in minus figures, then u get the 50 multiplyer.....


if you say the penalty was to do with the lights, you must have turned on/off some lights at the wrong altitude.

Thanks Drew. Darn I guess those pre depature checks really do pay off. Right now I'm ignorant about using the lights but not for long.
Here's how the penalty for lights was recorded.

• The landing lights must be activated when entering the runway until 10000 ft, you forgot them. Our company received a fine of
$350. (-50)
• It is considered bad practice to leave the landing lights turned on when the aircraft is on the parking ramp. (-30)
• It is considered bad practice to leave the strobes turned on when the aircraft is on the parking ramp. (-30)

i cant really help out that much, as i have the light options turned off in the menu - if you want to do the same, go to the fsp menu - click
the setup and difficulty option

Did a little more digging, and also read the FAQ about lighting. Anyway here's a note from the FAA regulations concerning landing lights.

When your aircraft enters the departure runway for position and hold, all aircraft lights should be illuminated except for the landing lights.
Once you receive your takeoff clearance or begin your takeoff roll, you should turn your landing lights on as an indication to other pilots,
ATC, and ground personnel that the aircraft is moving down the runway. Note: Use of lights in this manner is an advisory procedure, so
not all pilots may adhere to this guideline.

While on the subject of lights, can someone give me specifics:
I have read all the info on lights and know all the requirements, but I still occasionally get a light penalty when I have done things correctly
generally. What I'd like to know is what, specifically, are the triggers for the landing light/strobe penalties?

On departure I turn them on after the nose of the aircraft crosses the hold short line to take the run way and try to get them off before I cross the
clear line as I leave the runway on landing, but I still get penalty sometimes. I would like to know how does the program decided when to assess
these penalties? Does the whole aircraft have to be on the runway before you turn them on or be off the runway when you switch them off? Can you
turn them off during the roll out after landing but before leaving the runway surface? Can you turn them on durng line up instead of at the hold
short on take off? etc.

I've tried many combinations but can't figure it out. I never forget the lights so it is frustrating to get a steep penalty for this. I can just
turn off this penalty since I never forget to turn lights on and off, but I'd like to keep it on just in case I do some day. I just want to know the
exact triggers so I can conform to them. Especailly on landing and braking, it can be tough to get to the lights between the time I leave the runway
surface but before the hold short/clear line. It is just a few feet. Help!
