[Solved] Fuel flow rate

In trying to get around the world in my shinny new AW139 I keep getting engine failure due to fuel starvation. I opened the
in-flight report
and discovered I had a fuel burn rate of 10,592 lbs/hr (I'm not kidding). I have looked and looked until blue in the face
and can't find
anything in the .cfg for this bird that even comes close to fixing the problem.

Your incident is eye opener for me . Last night , I lost four engine due to fuel starvation in CS-707 ( this is third time happening). I put
38000Lbs fuel for 463 NM flight. At the last moment of the flight,. suddenly I hear C0-Pilot " engines flare-out:" warning. I checked Flight
Engineer panel, There are no drop of fuel in any tanks. 124 Passenger, we dipped in to Greenland ocean.

FSX registered the crash and restarted the flight from departure airport. I checked Flight Engineer Panel, Like a rabbit in magician hat,
we have total 14000 lbs fuel. FsP disconnected and 14000 lbs fuel appeared in tanks.

How shall I fix this problem?

Check the threads re the default FSX 738 and the fuel burn issue there.

Forgive me for stating the obvious but there's this great invention called a 'fuel gauge' and, as the operator of the vehicle, we are
supposed to keep an eye on it and when it says something along the lines of "only vapour left" we're supposed to consider diverting to
another destination.


Anyway, enough sarcasm at 7am.

To fix your issue, in the aircraft.cfg there's a section titled

[GeneralEngineData]

In this section there should be an entry that says:
fuel_flow_scalar = 1

if this is not present then I think FSX defaults to a standard scale of 1. So, add the above entry exactly as it reads and then mess around
with the = 1 part until you get a vaguely accurate range out of the bird in question.

That fixed it. I was looking for the obvious fuel_flow_rate=XXXlbs/hr. ( A scalar to me is a guy that climbs rocks.) This does take some
time to fix because you have to find a decimal number that gives you the correct rate but persistance is it's own virtue.
