Overspeed?

Ok, Im not sure if this is a bug, or what's going on. But sometimes I would suddenly get a huge boost of speed in my 737-8 pushing me well over the
Overspeed limit, which results in a huge lost of points to my FSPassanger pilot. It looks as though it's turbulence pushing, but it's doing it in an
unrealistic manner. Here is an example:

If my Speed Indicator yellow zone starts at 320kts and the red zone is around 340kts, then I set my Auto Throttle speed to 300kts ( I always put it
20knotts lower than the yellow zone start. Sometimes, this boost of speed will instantly push my aircraft to around 350 or 360kts and I get a
overspeed warning. Once it pushed me to 380kts and my aircraft was destroyed to stress) Is this normal ?? Why is this happening and what can I do
to prevent it? FL is around 24 or higher recently happened at FL33.

Get an advanced weather program like Active Sky which will smooth out the upperlevel winds. Also, check the actual operating speeds
for the aircraft. You may be "under" the red zone but still well above standard cruising speed. Always err on the side of caution with the
overspeed thing.

Are you using time acceleration?

Not using time acceleration. But I am using REX 2.0 the realistic sky and environment plugin. Do you think this is the cause?

In the more_options.cfg change the following line:

DisableOverspeedLimit =1; // disable overspeed penalty

Some purest will think this is cheating, but MSFS has known issues with wind shifts that do not occur with the frequency of MSFS. Thus for most
flights it is just easier to tell FSP to ignore overspeeds. There are a few programs that do a better job of controlling windshifts but I find that
they also eliminate wind sheer which is a real condition that pilots have to contend with and can be a handful on landing.

Thanks for the tip KenG, I'll give this a try. I personally enjoy the wind sheer effects, but the exaggerated boost of speed forward by 50 knots is
like a bug, and I don't consider removing the penalty a cheat. Thanks again!

I use Active Sky Advanced on FSX and I've never gone overspeed (from a wind push, I do tend to rip the wings off of the F-18 when I'm just
screwing around) but I've had to go around numerous times because of turbulence and/or windsheer on short final. It's a very good
program and will work with your graphics from REX.

I am having the same problem while flying the Level D 767. I finally had to diasble the overspeed in the "more options" section as
described in the other posts. I agree - I do not believe it is cheating since it seems like FS does not treat this aspect entirely realistically

It is a problem with FSX. I usually fly that little bit slower at high altitude and I have one of my throttles configured to the speed break which
comes in handy with excessive wind shifts edging into overspeed. Unfortunately, this means you have to stay at the controls and not go off and watch
tv or do other things while the AP in is control.....

Recently I have had this while on approach where my speed was 180kts at 3000ft, it then went suddenly to 320kts damaging my flaps - really annoying,
if it's not realistic, as the weather was reasonable until then ( using real-time REX2 ). I had to speed brake fast which was a big mistake as I was
penalised for performing an acrobatic flight - I guess the bird did pitch up and down quite fast.
