Ticket Pricing

Hi all,

Will never fly again without FsP. I'm still shaking from my first flight when I unexpectedly got shot at over the Houses of Parliament.

Just a query about setting ticket prices. How are they measured ? It appears you input a fixed price ticket by class, whatever the flight
distance... ?? (No problem, if that's the case, I'll work it out for each flight).

I set mine up something like 150 for economy, 230 for business etc....
I bought a Mooney Bravo for £160,000 or so and got 2 passengers on my first flight. The flight went very well (100% satisfaction) over a
distance of 140nm.

When I got my report back however, I was a little taken aback to see that my ticket income had only been £69 in total, with a total real
income of £172. (I am using £)

Surely I should have at least got £150 x 2 (if both PAX were only economy)...

Also, what class PAX are assigned to a small charter type GA SEP plane?

as far as I understand it, you set the ticket price per X number of miles. (lets say, for example, 500 miles)

your passengers are then charged depending on how far they fly.


I do understand your concern, I'm also flying the Mooney, and my ticket income for 2 passengers of often lower than what just 1
passenger should pay in real life... but then again fuel costs seem lower as well so it does kinda balance out.

Yes, that's the way I figure it too. Just wonder what the "X" actually is ?

I would guess with that logic also, given the permissible price ranges, the VIP tickets would always turn out to be cheap say on a haul
from LA to Sydney. (When compared to real life that is!)

Hmmm, that a good question.

I did some calculation based on 5 differents flights and it seems that the approximate formula is something like this:

(Price Set / 537 NM) X Distance traveled in NM X pax in class = income per class for trip.

That's flying a C182 with 2 Pax, and with the assumption that they are using the economy setting.

Mind you, I could be wrong but it seems close enough.

My prices are multiplied by 50......at the end of the flight!!!

So I end up earning around 4-6000 dollars each time in the mooney......is that what you guys are doin?

I'm nearly instrument rated and cant wait for twin rating..although I'm on record mode and it's sudden death....which will be a bummer if I
crash!

We're talking about the ticket income before multiplication, with two passengers over a distance of about 120 - 150 miles.

Maybe DanSteph could enlighten us a little as to the program logic behind the ticket pricing.

It's a little like stumbling along in the dark at the moment. The object is to make money after
all.

A little clarification required please.
