Your Strategy

What about the flight schedule strategy? For example, I'm finding that some
small long-range airplanes are more profitable than some larger ariplanes.
The Mooney Bravo can't take many passengers, but it has a long range and
it's cheap to refuel and maintain. A larger airplane like the DC-3 can carry
many more passengers, but the fuel costs skyrocket. I can make almost the
same amount of money on a long trip (850nm) with the Mooney Bravo than a
shorter trip (180nm) with the DC-3. This also gives me more flight experience
and points.

I've tried all sorts of things. If I start with a career in mind, I buy a new plane each time my pilot is able to upgrade. I keep the old ones for
the fleet bonus. Right now though, I'm running an economic sim without career mode so I can simulate building a small airline from our
D228 and B1900C up to something with fans and lots of seats. We also have a DC-6M I use (rarely) for long flights.

I also have a Cargo Pilot/FSPX career that tanked because I kept crashing the Bravo in FSX. My pilot is so far in the hole it will take
months to get him back up to 0 pts! I'll probably delete that one.

I fly with a lower multiplier and career mode so I generally try to plan at the beginning what type of airline I want (I have one strictly cargo and
one passenger airline) and based on that set goals for which planes I will buy. I like to start out with the gippsland airvan (still have 2 for flying
cargo in the bush). Once I get my core group of planes assembled and I'm making good money I will go back and buy some of the "fun" planes that I want
but didn't want to spend the money on while I was building the company.

As for the flights, I try to be realistic usually flying routes that I've actually flown (as a passenger) in real life and if possible I like to use
the same plane. If I run out of flights that I've taken I still try to be realistic using the correct aircraft based on what would fly that route in
real life (no regional flights in a 747 for me). A lot of my current flight planning comes from here, people talking about different flights they've
done or looking at the screenshots I like to try some of the flights that I've seen others trying. I'm thinking about slowly working my way over to
the middle east and letting one or two of my planes start doing dedicated service for government contractors flying into and out of the war zones over
there so I can pick up some of those bonus points but I need to get a bit more of a financial buffer under me first.
