PADU

Hello all I'm a little curious. I flew my Learjet 45 from UHPP to PADU,Unalaska, AK and I had a difficult time trying to land. It took me 4
attempts before I finally got down on the ground. Has anyone else tried this airport in a jet. I feal bad because I just saw a show on T.V.
about how Alaska Airlines used to fly 737's into this airport on a regular basis even though it only has a 3900 foot runway. And the planes
they showed always got it on the first try. Airways magazine even rode with them on a flight and had the pleasure of experiencing this
approach. Well let me go and wipe the sweat from my forehead.

You have to remember that the pilots landing there at Dutch Harbor are veterans with A LOT of flying time, and as I recall from that episode (of
Discovery Wings), most are former bush pilots as well. To be able to take on short fields like that, you have to put in a lot of practice.
