It's been a while since I had a chance to sit down and do a flight. I just went through a complete reformat and upgrade to RAID0, new install of
flight sim, and a session with FS-GS (which I recommend if you have the time and money). I got some good payware planes reloaded, all my Ultimate Traffic redone with Aardvark, EVAI, and FSP planes, at least for the places I fly frequently. Just purchased the new LAX scenery and have had
flytampa's KSFO for awhile, so I figured what better way to test everything out than a quick hop in a 737 from LA to the Bay. AI traffic set to 85%,
ASV6 using FE textures (geez I'm starting to sound like a payware commercial!), Birds Eye View, and of course FSPassengers. I loaded up about a 75% full flight and took off. Everything was going beautifully, the pax were happy, the sim was smooth and everything looked awesome. My sim never looked
or ran better. ATC starts my descent, which is gorgeous through the clouds, the sun is setting so everything is a deep red color. I hit about 7000 ft
somewhere east of San Jose, when I hear a muffled boom. I paused the sim and took my headphones off for a sec, to see what the noise was. I live in an
Air Force dorm, and on the weekends the drunks can be quite noisy. All is quiet, so I start the sim back up and now I hear gunfire! My copilot tells
me we have just lost all hydraulics. Over the bay area? Gun fire? The passengers anxiety levels go up, and I must admit mine did too. I declare an
emergency, cancel IFR and am cleared number 1 for 19L. I set her down, came to a halt, and basked in the applause from my smooth landing. As my
passengers disembarked, I swear I heard one of them say, "Don't forget to disable the KCCR demo warzone nextime, dummy!"
